If any of these deals were remotely reasonable, I’d be thrilled with them. Lincecum and Cain should both top $20M AAV.

No way Jose. Lincecum and Cain could get a lot more than that on the free agent market.

lincecum will make more than what you have for him+what you have for Cain. He’ll top CC money EASY.

I’m not surprised that they’re focusing on Vogelsong and Cain first, but I am surprised that they haven’t had any contact with Lincecum since the “8 years” suggestion. They’be been sending signals since November that they would wait until just before the arbitration push this month to deal with Lincecum, and focus on the rest, but to go dark with Lincecum’s agents this long seems like a bit of message-sending that I hope doesn’t come back and bite them in the ass.

Timmy went thru this two years ago and sounds like a guy who gets the business side of baseball. He’s not worried about being pampered. Besides if he wants to leave he will leave.

I see Lincecum leaving and Cain staying. Cain will finish his career with 190 wins and 195 losses with a 2.80 ERA if he stays with the giants though. The dude is the unluckiest and most underated pitcher in baseball.

Going through arbitration 2 more times, could mean around 55 million if he doesn’t agree on a contract. He seems to understand the process more than other players, and wants to use that to his advantage. He might have to be traded soon…. where the yankees would be a good fit.
