I wonder if Micah’s role includes being the Padres’ clean-up hitter?
Johnny Goette
He is 7-12 lifetime in Petco with 2 doubles (per Corey Brock’s twitter acct)

I love this signing for the Padres. Owings could really help a rotation made up of question marks. I’m a Padres fan so please don’t tell me we don’t have question marks in the rotation.

So nothing on the Hamilton relapse…

from all i have heard it was only one or two drinks. I understand that he has had on going problems with addiction. But there is nothing reported as him being drunk or even “tipsy.” I do understand that it is technically a relapse but one or two drinks isnt that big of a deal or a story. Maybe he has gotten to the point where he is over his addiction and mature enough to realize that he can have a drink or two and not slip back into the abyss…
JacksTigers
That’s not how addiction works. You aren’t just better one day and able to drink. He relapsed and from what I’ve read, he was tipsy and told a girl to grab his behind. Kinsler was also there.

Did you see the picture of him? It was a little more than ‘one or two drinks.’

The Padres should make a run at Oswalt.
iheartyourfart
the money is all tied up. payroll is approaching $60m. if the red sox end up acquiring bartlett that could give them a little more room, but probably not enough for oswalt. and i don’t think oswalt will sign with a team that he doesn’t see as a legit WS contender.
hitttman
Couldn’t the Padres sell Oswalt on the idea that he could re-build his career in San Diego, and if he is pitching well, have the opportunity to be traded to a contender? This payroll stuff is BS, the Padres can probably afford a payroll of $70 million.
iheartyourfart
ok little buddy, i’ll let you tell me whats going on since you have obviously looked at their financial ledgers and are intimately familiar with their long-term plans.
p.s. oswalt can sign anywhere he wants, why would he pick a team that he hopes will trade him?
hitttman
And you are saying that the Padres only have $60 million to spend? Are you more privy to the ledger? Aren’t the Padres the most “profitable” team according to Forbes?
hitttman
yes

These one year stints with the Padres usually lead to fat contracts with another club the next year. Pitchers like Owings, Garland, Wolf, Harang….should pay the Padres to pitch at Petco.
