Kevin Gregg for Brett Myers straight up!
I mean who could beat a bullpen with Brandon Lyon and Kevin Gregg?
It would be right there with Marmol and Gregg!
Heck even Alphonse and Gaston couldn’t even top that Dynamic Duo!

The sarcasm is strong in this one…

Translation: Nobody is offering anything good enough yet so we’ll hold out while Myers builds more value.

Exactly

Finally an Astros GM that understands the power of posturing.

seems pretty risky, since teams in immediate need might fill the hole by the time the deadline rolls around. or myers could fall on his face as well.
then again, it’s the astros. no hurry to do anything right now, really.

why would we trade our closer when as a team we are playing well right now. this is what I hate about guys like Billy Bean. they’ll move someone to another position or waste money on a big name free agent only to trade him for propects that never pan out. keep Myers off the block as long as the astros are playing well.

I don’t get Luhnow. I thought the whole purpose of moving Myers to the bullpen was to limit his innings pitched this season. A healthy Brett Myers could be extremely valuable to a team who could use pitching (the Yankees or Tigers). Limiting his innings would have increased Myers’s value at the deadline.
Luhnow, what are you doing??!? You’re not keeping Brett long term!!!

Maybe they can ship Myers to the Phillies for a couple of prospects who won’t pan out. And if salary is an issue, maybe the Phillies can get their AAAstros to eat most of it.

Ed Wade doesn’t work for the Astros any more so your joke makes no sense.

Apparently he never did.
