The adventures of a Rule 5 pick, all to return home
HalfSt
It is the second best thing that could happen to a Rule 5 guy. He didn’t stick, but his Rule 5 status indicates that he wasn’t getting to the major leagues right now any other way. He had two cups of coffee, and now can go back to the Nats. I hope he finds a way to break into the DC roster on merit, but if he never does, at least he got the chance that legions before him never did.

Or, there and back again.

Is it really “Erik Komatsu Baggins?” (cuz at 5’10” I don’t think he qualifies as a much of a hobbit!).
BarrelMan
Haha, points for picking that up! No, I suppose he’s like 2 or 3 or more Bagginses.
Infield Fly
“Stackable Bagginses?”
Somebody must’ve been a marketing major (with a minor in literature) :p
BarrelMan
They fold up, store in small spaces and are very handy in a pinch

Just not as a pinch hitter.
BarrelMan
No, though maybe the White Sox would try ’em out.

Erik will get his chance again soon. Once he finds his swing he will be a good first or second batter. Great speed, makes contact, and he will get on base. He was a rule 5 draft selection brought up by the world champion Cardinals…not just any other team. This stuff is common in the majors so that they don’t have to pay them a major league salary. It frees up money and that is what MLB is all about today.

Ummm…. He was not brought up by the Cardinals…
Being a Brewers fan I obviously know him, but may I suggest you take the 7 seconds it takes to search him on BR before commenting?
