Athletics Claim Danny Farquhar Off Waivers

‪The Athletics‬ announced that they have claimed pitcher Danny Farquhar off of waivers from the Blue Jays.  The right-hander will be optioned to Triple-A Sacramento while Andrew Carignan has been transferred to the 60-day DL.

The move marks a return to the A's organization to Farquhar, who joined Oakland in November 2010 as a part of the Rajai Davis deal.  The 25-year-old was soon sent back to Toronto in April for David Purcey.  Farquhar owns a 2.97 ERA with 9.8 K/9 and 3.0 BB/9 in 20 Double-A appearances this year.

Perhaps now we can DFA Trystan Magnuson, the A’s can claim him, then we could trade Rajai Davis for the pair.

Is this reality? Essentially the Jays got Rajai Davis for nothing since all the players involved in the trade went back to their previous teams if I recall correctly.

Just goes to show you can take these minor league signings with a grain of salt. It’s almost like GM’s do this stuff out of boredom.

Danny Farquhar was traded by the Toronto Blue Jays with Trystan Magnuson to the Oakland Athletics for Rajai Davis.

Danny Farquhar went from Toronto to Oakland to Toronto and now back to Oakland.

Trystan Magnuson went from Toronto to Oakland, and is now back in Toronto.

Rajai Davis went from Oakland to Toronto.
