Honestly not sure if Eithier is a good fielder, but Gold Gloves mean nothing – Palmeiro won a gold glove having played first base for something like 15 games one year.

Bad extension nonetheless – he’s not worth that kind of money.

He’s pretty much worth exactly that kind of money – not more or less.

Really, do you watch the games?  Andre Either’s defense is well above average.  He made three great catches in today’s game alone.  Who says he is “less than stellar” defensively?  I’ve never seen that in print.

Beat me to it! Great game today in the field and a gold glover last year. Never been upset with his defense happy with the re-signing, he would have gotten more as a FA.

Ethier’s defense is up for debate.  UZR hasn’t liked him for years, but he is liked by others and did win that GG last year.  He probably wasn’t deserving of it, but has actually been much improved defensively the last 2 years – especially getting to the ball in the gap.
