Another bullpen lefty in the mix. Might be a good pick up.

Picking up more arms. It’s a numbers game. Eventually one or more of these acquisitions will click and contribute. I like watching these moves with no emotional expectations invested as the Cubs rebuild the organization.

Picking up a bunch of mediocre arms doesn’t mean one will stick.

Shawn Camp?

Camp’s been solid and consistent since his major league debut in 04, only really had 1 bad season in 07, but other than that he has a WAR between .3-.7 in each season which is decent for a reliever. Hinshaw has never thrown enough strikes to be effective (6.1 BB/9 in minors, 6.84 in majors) he throws low 90s with a herky jerk delivery from left side and a ok slider but has no controll on any of his pitches.

For a lefty that’s not so bad tho since you are only gonna leave him in for 1 batter usually anyways. So if you use him in the capacity of bringing him in vs lefties where a strikeout is needed and the bases aren’t loaded, he can be pretty useful. Granted it’s not the most efficient use of a roster spot…..
been a fan of hinshaw since he was at san diego state and while he was in san francisco. he has a lot of potential, but as creech correctly states above, he has control issues. here’s hoping he does well in chicago!

If he has a 4.50 ERA in Petco, he’s in trouble.
Shel K
yet another name to be forgotten by next spring. If we’re dumpster diving, I’d rather give Prior a shot. Also Carpenter who the Blue Jays released might have been a better pick up.
