Aww Joe Maddon you are making me blush!
Devern Hansack
It looks like the projected starters would be Lester, Buchholz, Doubront, and Lackey. I’d be more than happy with signing Edwin Jackson to a three-year deal. I’m guessing that Aceves, De La Rosa, and Webster will all be given chances to compete with Lackey as well.

E.jack no way 3 yrs. Rather go dempster on a 1 yr or why not make a play for timmy tim in san fran. He will be 1 yr away from free agency and maybe. I know its a long shot but would love him in red sox uni

SF wouldn’t trade him now his value is at an all time low.

Hoping for Sanchez myself. Jackson have doubts about, he is never consistent and is not going to sign before late Dec/early Jan as a Boras client and it’s way too late.
Also? Am more in favor of Morales than Doubrant myself.. Doubrant did look good 1st 2 months, but look at his pitches.. he was at 75-80 thru 4IP every single game, even when going good. Too rough on the pen. he needs to be the swing man to me.

With Doubront we’re talking about a kid who’s pitching his first full year in the majors, give him a break.
The way I see it right now the starting 5 would be Lester, Buchholz, Lackey, Doubront, and De La Rosa or Morales. I figure we need to add a guy like Marcum or Jackson (Notably both have AL East and playoff experience), basically a decent middle of the order arm.

Edwin Jackson, Joe Saunders, kuroda, haren( if option isnt picked up), peavy (same as heren). All of these guys are pretty decent pick ups. Also Marcum and Anibel Sanchez. One or two of these guys would be solid pick ups. Wouldn’t want to lose a draft pick though( don’t know if it is protected or not). So maybe Joe Saunders or Sanchez or a trade for someone else.

Please no Saunders.

In the new CBA, no draft picks are lost any more for signing free agents. OTOH, if a teams loses a top free agent (one to whom you’ve made a “qualifying offer” which was rejected), the team only gets 1 compensation draft pick rather than 2.
notsureifsrs
this is not correct. teams that sign qualifying free agents will still lose a first-round draft pick if it is unprotected. it just won’t go to the player’s former team anymore
Crucisnh
I’ve NEVER heard anyone say that before, nor have I read that before in any article on the new CBA. So frankly, unless you can produce a indisputable MLB source for this, I am unable to believe you.

Bill Lee and Roger Clemens are still pitching. Just saying.
Eric He.
While those are kinds words from Mr. Madden.
I still think he likes us because we helped his Rays get in playoffs last year
