John Henry will not succumb to the head hunting pressure of sports writers to dump Bobby Valentine, if Bobby wants to stay for another year, or more. He knows that the skipper has had to manage with one hand tied behind his back for the entire season. In 2013, if Bobby stays, he will have his own coaches, and he will have a say in who the players are on his active roster. Any manager deserves that much authority to get the job done. Cherington’s authority, if he stays on, will stop at the doorway into the Red Sox clubhouse.

If I was Boston upper-management, I’d say *bye, bye* to Valentine…bc their fans are going to want a change, after this disastrous season.
Jonas Altman-Kurosaki
their fans wanted a change before the season even started, and so did the players and the GM. no manager can succeed in a situation when the deck is stacked against him before he can even open spring training.

I am among those fans! Five minutes of listening to his “analysis” on ESPN told me I never wanted him near my team. And every time I see him I wonder why… why is this man still here.
Joseph Jonathan Herrera
Bobby continues to put on a brave face, but he has to know he’s done, especially with all the questionable moves this month alone. Ever wonder if the reason they haven’t talked to him about next season is because they know there won’t be a next season for Bobby V?

I don’t have a problem with Bobby V, he was handed a team that was half replacement level players and half overpaid primadonnas who blamed their failures on their binky being gone. I doubt they make the playoffs next year either, but you never know. The 06 team was pretty bad and they won in 07.

’06 team had a strong core in place and got several reinforcements from the farm system and of course Matsuzaka + Okajima from Japan that they won’t get a boost from in 2013, then Beckett had his Cy Young year (should have gotten it at least) and everything just fell together perfect all around.
jmcbosox
the 2013 team will finish with a worse record than the 2012 sox. you heard it here first.

Yes oh yes please Fire Jim Tracy. While you’re at it Monforts. Fire DoD too, and then sell the team.

If the Marlins fire Guillen then the Rockies should hire him because he is a way better manager then Jim Tracy has ever been.

If the Red Sox bring Bobby Valentine back again next year I’m going to start thinking they just don’t care.

Ben Cherington on WEEI in Boston this morning basically announced Bobby V would NOT be returning next season. *REJOICE*
