Thanks for stopping by.

Right…except when you switch from one agency to Scott Boras, you pretty much wipe out a third of the bidders out there right off the bat. Good luck with that, Jose.

Guess he’s going to Washington or Mystery Team
dc21892
Hope he’s okay with signing in mid January.

He is going to need a good agent after this years yo-yo performance. Throw strikes- get paid. Throw garbage- have an era in the fours. Maybe he thinks Boras can get him back on the Tigers. Good move potato chip..good move. Have fun next year in a Red Sox Uni.

No thank you.
Karkat
That’s like the one area we DON’T need help in. (both “late inning relief” and “tremendously overpaid pitching”)
dc21892
Couldn’t agree more. I mean maybe, MAYBE if he was going to accept a one year pact. Even then I don’t think I’d want to see him with Boston.

3 years 35 million. Calling it now. Doesn’t deserve it but will get it. Someone will pay late.

Let me put this nicely, NOPE!

Heath Bell couldn’t get more than 3/27 — and Ryan Madson couldn’t get more than a one-year deal. After the season Valverde has had, I can’t imagine him getting 3/35. I wouldn’t give him more than 2/19, and that is only if I lusted after the save stat.
Kevin D. 2
Well I know he won’t get it now

Switching to Scott Boras is a great well to let half the teams that might come calling after you know that you aren’t worth their time.

Valverde just turned into the best closer in the game. Just ask Boras.

@stl_cards16
That’s bit much, no? Boras does exagerate but he would most likely stop at saying he’s the second best closer in the game.
Trout Almonte
Agreed, Boras also represents Soriano and Madson.

I wonder if players ever worry about their agent representing other players that are clearly better at their position.

If Valverde had had a great year, I could see this as a good move. However, I can’t see this working out for Valverde.

I’ll be interested to see how Ryan Madsen–if his health looks good–will affect Valverde’s market. They’re both Boras guys who’ll be seeking big money in their early/mid-thirties. Valverde isn’t really that great, but will ask to be paid like he is, because he usually finds his way to good surface numbers. Madsen probably *is* really good, but will have obvious health concerns. I’m betting several teams that look at one will be looking at the other.
Steve Corbett
He’ll get Papelbon money and possibly beyond with Boras.
