Pass on Farrell. He can finish his contract with Toronto.. See if he still likes it after the season.. Boston will hire a manager for a rebuild season they won’t even be competing in and THEN John can make up his mind if he wants to return “home” or not.
It’s not nearly the big deal everyone makes it out to be.. Here and the media is hyping it as. John can have another go in Toronto to see if a few of his players will listen and the team will improve, or he will walk away.

Precisely what I’m thinking. The media has nothing else to post between now and the Winter meetings, so I guess they have nothing else to write about.

i just dont get why boston wants him so bad. i like john, he’s good with the media, well spoken, seems like a really good guy
but he makes questionable in game decisions and is iffy at best with the bullpen.
people are treating him like he’s the second coming of Joe Maddon.
The only reason I’m against the move is because boston is a divisional rival and because i think trading a manager is just silly. I’d be fully on board for the jays to let farrell walk and promote internally (butter or sal fas)

Same here.. It’s not like they are going to compete next year, nor win the DC.. Hire someone, a coach even who has been onboard before and give them a 1 year deal even with a team option.. The entire world will know what is going on.. See if Farrell wants to go to Boston or stay in Toronto if both sides want the guy..
I always thought he was a good pitching coach anyway and like u mentioned.. Manager and pitching coach are 2 entirely different things. I am not onboard with giving anything up for him and can understand Boston not wanting to since they allowed him to move to Toronto as manager in the 1st place.
That aside and like mentioned.. Both sides can’t work something out on a miniscule return for him and boston FO thinks they want him?? Hire an ex coach like mentioned for a year…

trading a manager is just silly
if the jays are negotiating a return it means that you don’t consider him a piece moving forward, so you let him go to do what he wants.

How about this proposal: the Red Sox trade every columnist that suggested that the team should trade for John Farrell to the Blue Jays as compensation for hiring John Farrell. Boston has too many sports columnists and talk radio hosts as it is, so consider it dealing from a position of strength.

Would that just be a salary dump?
SierraM363
The Red Sox are in rebuilding mode. They can afford to wait on Farrell until his contract ends.

Who wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to manage a team that fires three managers in three years? Oh, someone who is decent and has options!

While it would be great if the Yankees keep cano around it will turn out to be awful. He will be 31 when he is a free agent and $200M would put him between 8-10 years. I would rather they overpay for less years.

I just hope they dont bid against their self like they did for A-Rod.

That situation makes me laugh every day. What I find hard to believe is how far ARod has fallen. Injuries really played a huge role in taking him back down to earth.

I was never impressed with the play of Cano. His play in the field is lackadaisical.

It must have been a couple of years since you’ve seen Robinson Cano play. He’s been one of the best defensive 2B this year.
Lunchbox45
he’s never watched cano play
MB923
Well don’t cha’ know
Dennis
The Yanks would do well to exercise the option on Cano for $15M—-then wave bye-bye at $200M.
