Don’t see how Toronto can trade Rasmus and see a net improvement in the club for next year. That being said I’d be fine with them cashing in on his career year, despite the fact that he’s one of my favorite players, if it can get us a good starter to slot in the 2/3 spot in the rotation

If the Mets are going to be competitive this year, two sort of miraculous things would need to happen:
-The young guys (TDA, Wheeler, Syndergaard) would have to take the league by storm.
-They would need someone to have an unexpectedly amazing season at the plate.
With Duda, you know what you’re going to get: bad defense, slightly above average offense. With Davis, you’ll get pretty good defense and either terrible offense or great offense. Considering that the Mets are not exactly on the cusp and that 2015 figures to be much better when Harvey returns and the young guys have another year to develop, why not see if Ike can put it all together?
He’s not even a free agent until 2017, if you’re so dead-set on trading him, you can do so next year.

Duda will be platooning with Josh Satin.

Yes, and I’m saying I don’t like this. The ceiling for that is much lower than if Ike is there instead of Duda.
And imo, the market for Ike is shrinking. If Hart signs with the Brewers, that’s another team that’s out. Don’t be surprised if they don’t trade him.

I’m with you, you know what you’ve got with Duda but Ike is a gold glove caliber 1st baseman and you can still trade him during the season if he doesn’t improve to where he should be. He could increase his value by hitting better next season.
