$1.5875MM. They really haggled over that last thousand dollars.
Bruce Singer
Get ready for all the Mayberry and RAJ haters to spew the disgust for this.
Rally Weimaraner
Im not disgusted at all by his 1.5875 MM deal, that is what I expect a 30 year old OF with bellow average offensive and defensive skills to make.
Ryan Hi.
Well, here I am, so now what?
bobbleheadguru
The MLB system works, because it forces deals to be made to avoid arbitration.

Wow! DeAza gets more than Hosmer? Really?
slidingintobase
well, for one, you are comparing second year arb to first year arb – which you shouldn’t do

“The Indians have shown a willingness to go to trial” Perhaps to extend the negotiating window, but they haven’t had a player actually go to arbitration since 1991.

I smell an extension for Freeman (not just a one-year deal) and hearings, potentially not very pleasant, involving Heyward and Kimbrel.

All the Yankees arbitration cases are in the books now.

How close to the magic #189 are they now?

$190.026 million

I love the Braves. God I love them. Live and die with every playoff pitch–I’ve died a lot. But the one word that comes to me when thinking about these arb eligibles and the whole “file and trial” thing is not “shrewd,” “savvy,” or “Ray’s-like.” It’s “embarrassed.”
So sick of LM. Yes it’s a dead horse. But I just feel disgusted.
Kev D7
It does feel cheap.

4mil for Frieri???! Barf.
RyÅnWKrol
And yet Jim Johnson got $10 million for having what was an inferior season in a number of peripheral categories. Heck, Frieri even outperformed Grant Balfour in some areas. You should look at Frieri’s 2012 peripherals. His bloated ERA in 2013 was mainly due to a bad 2 weeks period at the end of July/early August when the Rangers just seemed to find every way possible to beat all Angels relievers late in games. His ERA was 1.66 after that. Overall, I think Frieri deserves a good raise.

Jason Castro will be a very wealthy man in about 12 months.

GM AA & Jack Z (Seattle Mariners) should talk about making a move that will benefit both teams for the upcoming season & long term by shipping Jose Bautista & Bret Cecil to the Mariners for Nick Franklin, Tyler Pike, Brandon Maurer or Stephen Pryor, Justin Smoak, and Choi or Peterson (may replace Adam Lind in couple years). Smoak can also be dealt to the Pirates for Jose Tabata or bringing back Travis Snider as Pittsburgh can use a first baseman.
