What an awful thing to call a ballpark…
philpbarnes
Doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, does it…
start_wearing_purple
I’ll still always call it The Ballpark in Arlington.
talcha32
No it does not, but I’d bet most baseball fans will continue calling it The Ballpark in Arlington.
yankeeparrothead
It could be worse. The could have just called it Accident Park
M.Kit
If you just call it “the globe” it sounds alright
jp1198
I liked Rangers Ballpark in Arlington better
texasmariner
While I agree, it doesn’t pay the bills though.
It’d even sound better if they used the name Torchmark rather than Globe life.
gammaraze
I can EASILY say Torchmark Park. But even in the days of Ameriquest Field, we still called it the Ballpark in Arlington. When they changed to “Rangers Ballpark in Arlington”, we never said “Rangers”

Stadiums and sports franchises themselves took a huge step backwards when they started going corporate with naming rights.. some of the worst? College bowl day.. you can’t just hear a certain bowl any more, like the grand daddy of them all.. The rose Bowl, one must listen to some ridiculous store bought name stuck in front of it.
Stadiums are as bad, all for both corporate greed, as well as salaries. it just reeks.
Maggiemay
Soooooo.
Anyone changing thier insurance?
pft2
No, but its probably a nice tax write off for them and I suppose those who never heard of them will check into what they offer, especially those Ranger fans who will get bombarded with the name every home game.
Thizzie
I’m from the DFW metroplex and never heard of Globe Life, wish they could have done Dr. Pepper Ballpark or something like that
dwarfstar
Well thizzie if you are from the dfw metroplex you would already know that the park outside the “THE GLOBE” is called the Dr. Pepper ballpark
Thizzie
Yep, it’s a little league field for 8-10 yr olds. Not a packed big league stadium hosting playoff games…
pft2
The Mets get 20 million a year and the Cowboys 19 million a year for their naming rights, so the Rangers are probably in the 15 million a year range
dwarfstar
Unfortunately the amount that is floating around, because they did not actually release that info during the press conference, has been posted to be only 5mm a year
rossington
Crazy how the rangers once filed for bankruptcy…. And now after
Nolan Ryan and company set that ship up for success…. And no he’s about to do that with the Astros.
teufelshunde4
Ryan wasnt anything more than a name to lend legitimacy and sell the Rangers to to local population. If Nolan really was the man in the Rangers hierarchy then it would been Daniels out at the end of the day not Nolan.
dwarfstar
Technically it was not the Rangers that went bankrupt, it was Tom Hicks that went bankrupt, the Rangers were a byproduct of that!
Joe Orsatti
Daniel Bard is a great addition. He is still relatively young, however, I think that it is up to him listening to the guys in AAA giving him the tricks he needs to work out his control issues. If he can listen to those coaches, he can be an extremely effective future 7th or 8th inning guy.
Rizzo44
Global life park . Horrible name and probably only available in most parts of Texas. Ballpark in Arlington is far better.
