I like the Gardner deal a lot better than that. Talking about age 33/34 as fragile years. Possibly, but I’m not concerned with a player’s age 33 season, I’m concerned with having them signed over age 35. Don’t think it’s absolute lack of faith either in the prospects. Prospects typically fail. If you can keep a guy like Gardner without having to overpay then you should jump at that. Isn’t like they have the outfield locked up forever, all their top OF prospects still in AA, not really knocking at the door.
