Daniel Murphy for Dylan Bundy? Lol
Dynasty22
My exact thought.
KJ4realz
A broken Dylan Bundy is worth more than that. Geez, talk about asking for the moon
icedrake523
You think Sandy Alderson doesn’t know Dylan Bundy is worth more than Daniel Murphy? Every GM should ask for more than what a player is worth, you may find another GM who is desperate/dumb enough to do it.
Rabbitov
No you won’t.

I can’t even imagine this team offensively without murphy

“On-base and slugging, this is what teams want,” Murphy said.
No kidding — this is how it has always been, except maybe during the deadball days of the 1906 White Sox. Getting runners on base and advancing them with extra base hits have always been the two pillars of offense.
Of course, I think this is a lesson lost on some guys like, say, Jeff Francoeur, who once said, “If on-base percentage is so important, why don’t they put it on the scoreboard?”

Seratelli is the new Turner. He will play a lot with Collins here.
Nellybellyman
Doubt he’ll make the roster
Flores
Duda
Recker
EYJR
Puello
That’s probably the mets bench this year
jeff 27
Satin?
rct 2
Puello and Flores could easily not make the roster and Duda may even be traded.

Seratelli plays (well can play) SS. None of those players you mentioned can.
Therefore, either he or Omar Quintanilla is your backup SS (unless of course the Mets sign Drew, pushing Tejada to the bench instead).

Sherman strikes again. Arguing in favor of trading their minor league talent in order to acquire expensive players from teams looking to unload salaries? That’s insanity. If they were willing to expand their payroll, they’d just sign more free agents without having to give up talent.
Not to mention that doing Sherman’s plan would be completely counter to everything Sandy has been doing since he became GM. Sandy’s plan has been to shed bloated contracts, stockpile young and cheaper players, and then eventually compliment the home-grown talent with free agent signings. Now Sherman wants to dump all the prospects for expensive retreads? Isn’t that what Steve Philips used to do?

You hit it right on the money. I love what Sandy Alderson is doing.

Reporters also some fans want the mets to spend money. Tell me who was out there other than Cano, Mccain.

Also i think Turmbo could have been obtained as long as they didn’t trade the three.
Brian Baker
I wish we could post GIF’s of Orioles reaction to that offer…
jimrhill
Probably laughing so hard they were crying…
Sky14
If that’s what they are asking for then I wouldn’t consider that as making Murphy available..

I can understand asking for more than you expect to receive in a trade and expecting the first response to drop down to a more reasonable level. But asking for a top 20 prospect in all of baseball is foolish. When you shoot way over the market value of a player in such a trade you run the risk of burning bridges and giving other teams the impression you’re not genuine about making deals. Not smart when your franchise needs an infusion of talent from beyond your minor league system.
