Can’t really blame Scherzer for betting on himself. But if he has a bad second half and no one wants to give him 200 million, Boras will certainly blame everyone but his client.

However, there’s got to be something to being with a team you enjoy being a part of. IF he’s very happy with the Tigers org, that’s got to be worth a few million then blindly going with a team like the Cubs where you’d be miserable.

Scherzer might be betting on the Cubs getting involved. Major market team that could use an actual ace. They might want to make a big pitching splash with many of their position player prospects arriving soon.
