Come on back to the Pads

I’d be surprised if someone doesn’t give him a shot out of their bullpen.

Being drafted in 2012,he has to be young still. Must seriously be hurt
Ted
I assume he means Rowland-Smith — certainly nobody is giving Tyler Gonzales a shot out of their bullpen

Meant to post that one reply higher. Weird to give up so soon on such a high pick
John Cate
That’s pretty bad when you take a guy in the first round and he never gets out of the Gulf Coast League. I presume he must have been hurt and deemed beyond recovery, because no scout misjudges talent that badly.
Ted
I can’t find any reference to injury. Maybe something off the field? Dunno — pure speculation.

It’s pretty clear that Gonzales couldn’t throw the ball in the general direction of the plate and that’s why he was released. He hasn’t been hurt or gotten into off-field trouble.
Ted
Are you basing that on anything beyond his statistics? They weren’t good, but still, how often does a first round pick get outright released two years later? I am skeptical that the scouting was just that bad — I mean he wasn’t costing them anything in rookie ball anyway.
By comparison, Matt Smoral was drafted ten picks higher, is also a 20 year old repeating rookie ball, and can’t throw strikes. But I’d be utterly shocked if they just released him.

6’8″ LHP’s don’t grow on trees, and boy oh boy did that comp change after this past year.

Tyler Gonzales. Damn man, talk about busting.

As most draft picks do.
Unassisted Triple Play
Releasing Nate Roberts was a mistake.
