Ace2095
I think Beckham would be the most likely second baseman that the A’s could acquire this month.
not_brooks
Blah. What’s the point?
Ace2095
A change of scenery might be all he needs, plus he shouldn’t cost that much.

The Mets should be ready to deal Daniel Murphy later in the month. Any interest A’s fans? If so, who are you willing to give up for him?

Daniel Murphy is legit at the plate and on the base paths (not just stolen bases, he garners value with savvy base running.)His defense is meh but he can play second first and a little left. Plus he has team control this year and next at reasonable rates (5.7 this year, likely in the 8 million range next year). As of today the A’s would have THE VERY LAST waiver claim on him. Even if he got as far as San Francisco that would be it. Almost a zero percent chance the A’s get him whether it’s another team blocking the A’s or a team that really wants him.
calamityfrancis
good point. he’s not making it to the A’s.

If you are a Mets fan that’s not all bad. The Athletics are somewhat empty down on the farm. Other teams that would put a claim in on him should be able to give the Mets a better return. He won’t bring back an elite prospect but he should have some value for sure.

The Angels can block Murphy from the A’s.

Ok fellas put ur gm hat on.. how much does cespedes get next off season on the open market
Dan Bowen
6 years 120 or 7, 135 I could easily see.
liberalconservative
6/90 would be the call unless he goes to Boston and just smashes in a shorter ballpark.
curtiss
yeah i say about 5 yrs 90 million. thats 18 m a yr
Rally Weimaraner
The A’s are going to have a hard time swinging a trade in August given their low waiver priority and limited payroll. Generally only players with very poor contracts make it that far down the waiver wire.
northsfbay
The could hold on to Cespedes and let him play out for a year and 2 months.
unclejesse40
Dang, I would have given up Aoki for Milone in a heartbeat!
Kansas_City
Doubt the A’s would have preferred Aoki over Milone.
Donnie Bandera
Billy should have called the Phillies and offered Milone for Revere, as we are playing Grady Sizemore over Revere.. Revere is batting .306 with 30 steals. Billy blew that one big time.
Donnie Bandera
and Revere is only 26 – Fuld is 32.
