Vandals Took The Handles
Rosenthal had another article as a follow-up to his encouraging the Phillies to trade Hamels to the Red Sox for some of their non-tip-tier prospects. He noted what the results were of their highly rated prospects since around 2006. Interesting article.
Tommets
If Flores keeps up his defensive woes, d’Arnaud and Duda keep proving they can hit, and the Mets are in contention by the deadline, I would like them to use their prospects Plawecki and 11th overall pick two years ago, Dom Smith to get a SS with good defense. Smith and Plawecki become expendable since Duda and Travis have shown over a year of offensive readiness. Two guys I would want them to look at are Andrus and Segura. Segura might be the better option being he doesn’t cost as much. I’d package Smith and/or Plawecki with Gee for one of those guys. At the point of the deadline they’ll have at least 2 or 3 guys who can fill his spot in the rotation.

Garza can play for “my” team any day of the week and is AL East proven. Brewers not expecting any major haul in return? Let Bucholz and his jekyl/hyde performance go after the season. His options for next 2 years total what Garza would cost on his current deal, only Garza is signed 2 more years and both are the same age. Garza has been a solid veteran, something like James Shields for 9 years now. That’s a good guy having at the top of the rotation and better than spending upwards of 200m any day of the week in my book.

I’m all for the “AL East” proven thing, but its been a long time since hes pitched there.

I’m a fan of the Red Sox getting Garza or Loshe but don’t think Clay is very appealing to a rebuilding club. Maybe Clay, Cechhini (to replace A-Ram), and a minor league SP.

A Gomez trade would be very interesting. The Brewers never really fully commit to a rebuild, so it seems unlikely. They will retool a be (at least) and respectable team in 2016.

I wish we wouldn’t. I mean, how ugly do we need to look this season to convince management to commit to a rebuild? Jeez.
