Sad, I had a bet going into this season saying the Rangers would make the playoffs. Hope Gallo can cover the load for a month.
sdsuphilip
I doubt this Hamilton injury hurts rangers playoff chances
Jaysfan1994 2
Beltre and Hamilton being hurt at the same time does. Team’s due for a big regress seeing as their bullpen/rotation have been outperforming expectations for the month. Beltre’s obvious superior defense is going to be missed and Hamilton helps extend the lineup.
Gallo should be superior if not as adequate as Beltre with the bat but I doubt Mitch Moreland or whomever they’ve decided to replace Hamilton’s bat with is going to help as much as he was likely going to help the Rangers.
Joseph Anderson
Hamilton continues to regress and you think he’s a big piece of the puzzle ther? He hasn’t done much in the past two years for anyone to consider him better than average.
sdsuphilip
the reality is Hamilton has not been a good player for 2 years, 1 good week doesn’t change that. Beltre is a significant loss, and yes rangers are probably going to get worse results than they have been getting elsewhere
Jaysfan1994 2
Angels ballpark wasn’t very good for a low linedrive pull hitter like Hamilton. You can look at his home splits the past few years and see how many of those doubles he hit probably turn into homers if he played in Rangers ballpark.
calicub
Call the exterminator because the Rangers are infected with the injury bug.
Jaysfan1994 2
I blame it on the cow milking contests.

I hope Gallo sticks.. Even if he has stats like Adam Dunn I like to see the young guns who are supposed to just get a taste mash their way onto the everyday lineup.. That lineup with Hamilton, Fielder and Gallo was scary enough.. When Beltre came back it would have been down right frightening..
Dock_Elvis
If he has stats like early Adam Dunn posting near .400 obp…then that’s solid…just hate empty at bats though
gammaraze
Everyone throws out this comparison to Adam Dunn like it’s a bad thing. Sure, he struck out a lot, but he also walked a lot. He lead the league in SO 4 times, including one year where he also lead the league in BB. And that wasn’t the first time he led the league in walks either, rather the second time. 8 years Dunn finished top 10 in BBs, 6 of those top 5, 5 of those top 3.
Random stat comparison factoid: do you know who also hit 40+ HRs and led the league in BB and SO in the same year? Mickey Mantle. Also, Mantle led the league in SO more times than Dunn. Just sayin.
Dock_Elvis
I have no issue with early Dunn comps…Dunn was still posting roughly .250 straight BA’s..drawing walks. I just have no idea what posters refer to when they throw Dunn out there…because a few younger ones might be referring to the post Cincy Dunn which really could be bottom end…tanked average AND obp. I witnessed Dunn firsthand in a White Sox uniform when he couldn’t even make contact with runners in scoring position… Simple contact would have been amazing

Ok we still have moreland fielder choo and Gallo as left handed bats and is that good enough or do they need to go get an left handed bat from somewhere
NickinIthaca
Four left handed hitting starters seems like plenty. But why not add one more?

What is going on with injuries in Texas? It’s been a bloodbath for the past year with the Rangers.
NickinIthaca
I blame the third base coach for this….
TheMick
Losing Hamilton, who’s started out pretty strong is a tough break. If the season ended today Texas would be one game behind the 2nd wild card team(s). Who would have thought that will all the injuries to their pitching staff (Darvish, Harrison, Perez, Holland, Lewis etc.) they would be anywhere near contending?
William Van Pelt
Your outfielder will be Joey Gallo, but you can call him Gambini.

Dodgers injuries>Rangers injuries this season–but nice of people to dust off their “jokes” from last season and try and write off the Rangers already just because Josh is hurt for a month.
JimBaily
I was writing them off because he was back with them.
Matt Musal
Josh just can’t catch a break….oops, I didn’t mean break, I don’t want to jinx him. Everyone was going good and now this. Hopefully there won’t be any problems, it might get hard because Texas is going to start getting really hot weather that might hamper him a bit. Good luck Josh.
Rally Weimaraner
That’s the Hamilton Angels fans remeber, as soon as things start going well he hits the DL
gammaraze
Yep, let’s just pretend that Hamilton was healthy his entire time in Texas… it’s not like he missed 163 games or anything… Oh wait
JimBaily
I can’t help but wonder if the hamstring pull is really a less embarrassing ailment than what is really going on with him.
stymeedone
Hamilton to the DL? what a surprise, not.
