A nice pick for the Bucs for a solid defender who can hit for average. I know most of the fans will complain that he is not a huge home run hitter but just like the complaints with Newman, my ears are deaf. Guys with solid batting averages will still knock runs in without putting the ball out of the park all the time.

PS… Andrew M. was not a huge power guy when he was drafted as well.. Has enough power to put one over the fence from time to time but like seeing all of the doubles that put runs on the board as well.

That was quick.

I know this is not a major concern for scouts, but it seems worth noting that Ke’Bryan Hayes seems to be an extremely bright, focused and level-headed young man. Moreso than many high school (or “prep,” as we seem to be calling it these days) kids, Hayes seems likely to make the most of his skill set. The Pirates are lucky to have Hayes in their system.
