How exactly has Tony Cingrani “taken well to pitching in relief?” He has not looked good in his last few appearances at all. I know the W/L record is not viewed with kindness anymore, but an 0-3 record as a reliever says that you personally cost the team a win in three games. His ERA is benefiting from a good April, but Cingrani is not doing very well at all this year.

“Taken well to pitching in relief” suits the length of the article better than articulating a breakdown on a player that is incidental to the point of the article. Maybe some info just needs to be kept short and sweet. Marquis is released…there it is.

My issue is not with the in depth analysis. My issue is the incorrectness of that short and sweet statement. Brevity is fine as long as there is accuracy.
Dock_Elvis
Oh, I totally agree…but I just take it for what it is….brevity generally means accuracy…. What snags me is when a writer takes a news piece and enters themselves into it…there’s a place for that…its in a commentary… Yeah…just take it for what it is…even print journalism has been on a slide

Cingrani is at 3.45 era…the whip is bombastic at 1.45…he’s walking guys like crazy…the 0-3 doesn’t mean as much to me…so…I guess he’s taken well in the sense of not totally imploding yet….until those walks sink it

Ruthlessly Absurd
Wow who saw that one coming? Though I guess the Reds won 4 of his 9 starts, so it could have been worse

Time to think about hanging ’em up when you get cut to make room for the Mascot.
