oh Hal
Doing a little more than he would otherwise do isn’t overpaying. Its the trade deadline. Prices are higher than the off season when he wasn’t interested in equal trades.
The near certainty he’s looking for costs and his list of untouchables probably includes any player who could conceivably help the Mets in the next few years.
Saying the market is thin is his way of saying nothing is available at garage sale prices.

Agreed.. He is going to have to give up one of his stud pitchers if he wants a solid bat with a decent contract in return.. Why does the entire rotation have to be full of aces? The Braves had #5’s like Pete Smith, Jason Marquis, and Paul Byrd through their dominate years.. I wish they would send out Syndergaard or Matz for Baez and Almora.. Baez has lost some of his shine but he still has more potential than anyone the Mets have up the middle.. If not with the Cubs then make a deal with the Braves for Peraza.. They have Peterson now and seem to be grabbing any young arm that is offered to them..

We all know Sandy isn’t making a big move to put this team over the top, they will have to win a lot of one run games to make the playoffs. What makes the furture look bleak is that Alderson won’t trade a young pitcher and he wont get any big free agents. They have weak position players at this time!

The only real shot the Mets have is a dried up market for backend starters….so maybe someone goes after Niese. I think Colon only has any real value to the Mets. Gee…well…he sucks for $3m left on his deal this year; the Mets are stuck w. him.

everyone says the mets should go out and trade for Tulo, or they go to the cubs and ask about Castro or Baez
