Lets hold onto Gomez and when the Crew sucks next year they can trade gomez for a lesser return……..
Novak
Or they could trade him during the off-season when 20 some teams will be looking to build for next year rather than being limited to a half dozen realistic suitors at this deadline.

Teams are willing to pay more at the trade deadline.

maybin to the mets

Why isn’t Ben Revere seen as desirable (or even more so) as Cameron Maybin? Both Fangraphs and Baseball Reference give Revere a higher WAR due to better defense and roughly equal offense.
Revere can play all 3 outfield positions.
Revere has consistent production in last 4 years, hitting over .300 in that period.
Revere is a year younger than Maybin.
Revere is cheaper than Maybin and has 2 years of arb control remaining. Maybin is under contract for $8M 2016 + $9M option for 2017 ($1M buyout)
I don’t get why the Braves have to fend off teams for Maybin, but Phillies cannot seem to get a nibble on Revere.

Maybe the asking price is simply a non starter.

mets go get maybin from the braves
kingjenrry
I don’t see that as happening. It’s more likely that they’d package Lagares and minor league depth for Gómez.
screwball
not sure why anyone would believe the braves dangled maybin to get pagan, when maybin is better to begin with.
