H/9 is somewhat high, as is his ERA, but he has a good FIP (compared to his ERA).
Likely going to be non-tendered by the D’Backs this offseason, so why not get anything out of it? If the D’Backs got anything of value out of this, it’ll be a plus.

A couple of lotto tickets for a guy the Dbacks were likely going to non-tender.
Reed has been better since his recall from AAA in late July. He has given up a total of 3 runs over 16 innings in 13 appearances. One of which was a fluke ball lost in the sun to center. Only 3 walks during that time. But he has lost some velocity & tends not to miss bats like he used to.
He is a decent middle relief arm now, who was too expensive due to his history as a closer.

Definitely worth a shot for the Mets. Can never have enough late inning arms down the stretch
Mike_Davis
Reed is still in uniform for the Dbacks.

Guess the Dbacks gave up despite being 5.0 GB a few days ago.

The Diamondbacks have far better options than Addison Reed for the stretch run.

Not a bad pick up. If NY Mets can get Marc Rzepczynski and let them both earn their chance. NY Mets may have a great bullpen.

Have to believe the prospects are marginal at best. Reed is somewhat mediocre and you’re only going to get like 15 innings from him at like $1MM. Can’t imagine the Mets tender him, either.
Also, I *think* you mean ‘derailed’ and not ‘detailed’ in the second-to-last paragraph. Could be wrong, though.

A few warm bodies in return is still better for Arizona than getting nothing at all when it comes time to non-tender him.
mrkinsm
With that return you can bet the Mets will tender him.
rct
He will cost over $6MM next year. I hate the narrative of the Wilpons being cheapskates, but unless Reed is lights-out the rest of the way, there’s no way they tender him.
mrkinsm
That seems like a lot to give up for a middle reliever who will make over 6 M $ next year.

2 players who had minimal future with the team. Koch was probably on the bubble for the 40 man for rule V protection, and Diaz as a 7 year minor leaguer would be a FA.
The move actually helps clear up some of the congestion at the back end of the 40.
hellobrooklyn
Good trade. Koch and Diaz are just minor league bodies. Koch actually had potential when he was drafted but has never lived up to it since he began playing professional ball even in low A ball affiliates. As long as Reed has a fresh arm the move is worth the audition . Mets need relievers for playoff run. It’s about time . Mets have made more moves these last few months than they have in the last few years.
Phillies2017
I think the Mets overpaid here.

A guy who was going to be a minor league FA if not added to the 40, and another who would be left out for rule v is an overpay?

Anthony diComo of mlb.com is 0-1. He reported just a few days back that the Mets would be unlikely to add a reliever.
I’d love mlbtr to start keeping a scoreboard for when reporters are incorrect or even when they post something that is the opposite of what a team does shortly after. I understand that this would be a very to determine the parameters, considering the language used by the reporter is less than 100% definitive, but I think it could be done.
