“and he bring a right-handed hitting balance”
bambam
All the reasons to dive up his value. Is there a Puig whisper?? Smh

I don’t like the idea of the Indians getting CarGo unless they can get him at a discount. I don’t like his stats away from Coors Field. I feel like he wouldn’t help and maybe Dickerson would be the better acquisition from the Rockies.

I was wondering if the mets were to make Harvey available would it be crazy to ask for joc Pederson and Corey seager.
alex navarrette
The Dodgers aren’t going to give away their CF and SS for a pitcher when there are a number of TOR starters available this offseason.
jabmets
For Matt Harvey. Your talking like he’s nothing special.
Ray Ray
And you are thinking like Price, Cueto, and Zimmermann aren’t as good or better than Harvey. It’s the Dodgers, they don’t have to pay in prospects when they basically print money.

He is a nice pitcher. The Dodgers can afford a great pitcher.
yonkers22
Ummm…there’s no way that would go down. They’re not giving up Seager. Plus why give up 2 extremely young and cheap/talented players for Harvey when they could just open the wallet and pay for Price, Cueto, Zimmermann, Shark, or any of the other top pitchers on the market?
yonkers22
So to answer your question, yes–it would be ludicrous to ask for those 2 guys in exchange for Harvey
AndThisGameBelongsToMySanDiegoPadres
Two untouchables for a less than untouchable? Yeahhh… no.
Greg David
The Indians should balk at Gonzalez and Dickerson’s numbers away from Coors field and especially against AL teams

After the Ubaldo debacle from 4 years ago, I am leery of a Cleveland trade with the Rockies. I realize that is completely irrational thinking, but I am a fan I am supposed to be irrational. I’d rather keep CarGo and Dickerson because the Rockies offense was a lot weaker last year than most people think. There are enough pitching prospects that can be paired with the holdovers and possibly a FA signee like Mike Leake or Yovani Gallardo to where the Rockies can have a decent staff. The bullpen is completely blown up, but bargain relievers can be found in February and March.

I’m not saying there wouldn’t be other pieces involved but a few things about Harvey.
First he is younger then all those guys in the free agent market.
Second only price and greinke I would rank higher then him.
Third he is healthy and with more time removed from TJS will be even better next year.
Fourth no i don’t want to get rid of Harvey but even though joc hit a ton of homers he didn’t hit for average and also got benched by mattingly. Maybe there is another short stop in your system but seager is still unproven. Harvey has proven to be a bull dog and will eat a ton of innings.
seamaholic 2
Harvey for a package built around Pederson is in the ballpark. A couple good prospects with Joc, for sure, but no way in you-know-where is Seager part of that package. Dodgers wouldn’t trade Seager straight up for Harvey.
gopads
why would the Mets want Joc, Conforto is enough of a left handed bat out there – looking st the Mets, to get Harvey it would take Seager type player, not many of those around (or even Justin Turner plus more stuff)
wilymo
listen, nobody’s criticizing harvey. he’s very good. the point is just that giving up controlled young talent in a trade is painful and counterproductive when you can just use cash to bring in similar talent instead. especially if you’re a team like the dodgers, with a TV contract that’s basically the replicators from star trek where friedman can just go in his office and say “money, earl grey, hot” and it appears
Cam
It’s odd that you pitch “Harvey will eat a ton of innings”, when that’s exactly what he doesn’t done so far – to the point where the Boras and the narrative have fought for the exact opposite.
bambam
Could only imagine Zack Greinke throwing Puigs luggage off the bus HA prima-donna.. Couldn’t imagine a change of scenery would solve any clubhouse.
gopads
LA has been an interesting town the last few years – starting to feel like Greinke will pitch elsewhere and thinking Puig will rebound for a strong year in 2016 but the Dodgers still have extra valued OF help so someone out there is very tradeable
Bob M.
What the Indians need is a right handed outfielder. Ideally a right handed plus defensive centerfielder.

Melvin Upton?
AndThisGameBelongsToMySanDiegoPadres
Good call. We can pay his salary down to where he’s worth what the Indians would be paying him.
gopads
Big Mac to San Diego & Maurer as the closer who can get you 4-6 outs once in a while – if Maurer is a starter i can’t see the club letting him go over 150-160 innings, with the way he dominated lefties for a stretch i’m all for him taking another year in the pen before making another attempt at being a starter (after the end of his time in Seattle plus a solid year in SD, it becomes obvious he thrives out of the pen)
SixFlagsMagicPadres
I don’t know, for some reason I don’t like the sound of McGwire in San Diego.
