The Padres went from huge splash last offseason to four Rule 5 picks on their 25-man roster. What a disparity.

I wonder who will make the team all season out of the 4? It’s a drain and a struggle to have just one rule V guy on the team all year, I’d bet these guys all go back to their original team.
One actual question though: does Blash go back to Oakland or Seattle if SD doesn’t keep him?
Letsgolos
He gets waived. If he clears waivers, he gets offered back to original team- Oakland.

Seattle was his original team
Ray Ray
Seattle was the original team and that is where he will go if he goes unclaimed through waivers.

Whoooops my bad, can’t read. But yeah original team.
Good thing I’m at the eye doctor right now.

I read this online on another site:
“If Blash is waived, the A’s can claim him on Rule 5 terms in order of waiver priority (this is how the A’s obtained Nate Freiman in 2013), but he ultimately would be offered back to the Mariners if he cleared waivers.”
So, yall are right…if I could upvote yall’s replies, I would!

i think its a cheap way to catch lightning in a bottle so to speak. Some teams didn’t want to get rid of the players in the 1st place…if the Padres release them..50K is nothing to take your player back.

Is there an award for most trades made? Seems like Padres just make deals to make deals

What a difference a season makes.

Has a team ever made that many Rule V picks in 1 year? I’d guess the pitchers have best shot of making it out of anyone.
