Always liked Daniel Murphy, formerly of the Mets. Pretty sure this is a good deal for the Nats. At the time of the trade, I assumed that Murph gave the Nats a NL East Coast discount. Kind of like choosing “the devil you know’ rather than waiting for a higher bid.

My bad, Not “trade” , but it wasn’t a signing either. Nor was it a formal announcement. So, “at the time of the original twitter story….”

I just want to dispute the notion that Murphy can play left field, even in a limited basis cited. He has only played two innings there since 2009, and was flat out awful when he patrolled there in 2008 and 2009.
As a Mets fan, I’ll miss Murph, and I think this is a pretty reasonable deal for the Nats.

@traderumorsmlb this is really terrible to look at, as a @mets fan I’m surprisingly offended by this use of Photoshop. This is a Signature #Mets moment. It’s one thing to photoshop the cap on a player photo, but this is so much more, and means so much more to the Mets and their fans. We EARNED this moment – the Nationals did not. And that look of pure joy on Daniel Murphy’s face should NOT be framed by a Nationals jersey. It’s surprising even to me, but looking at this photo makes me feel nauseous and angry. Please take it down. Thank you.

At least now will the Mets will know where to hit the ball 19 games a year. I can’t believe he didn’t sign with AL team so he could DH at least part of the time.
