Not a bad raise for half a season of production.

i love all the arbitration salary information.
Is it possible to get average arbitration salaries by arb year (1st, 2nd, 3rd) to compare to average FA salaries. Preferably by position. Wondering what the percentage of each arb year compared to FA market rates. Seems I ready somewhere something like 15/40/60% Also, arbitration salary inflation growth compared to FA inflation ?

That’s a pretty good discussion topic, although, personally, I’m unaware of the actual answer.
Hopefully the stats and data are already computed, compiled, and displayed somewhere online. If not, then I certainly wish you the best of luck taking on that daunting, time consuming task!! lol

Remember Papelbon’s arb numbers with the sox, they were crazy, it was like 5.5 then 8.75, then 12, crazy increase
Michael Macaulay-Birks
To be fair he was very good, and the last figure was coming off a dominating playoff/World Series performance

Actually I think you may be mistaken. Papelbon got the $12MM arbitration award at the end of the 2010 season for the 2011 season. Papelbon numbers in 2010 were nothing special in 2010 and the Red Sox missed the postseason entirely in both the 2010 and 2011 season. Also for the record Papelbon’s 2009 postseason numbers for the ALDS were pretty pathetic.

Man, I remember that well. 3 run 9th inning against Papelbon, Vlad with the two out single to take the 7-6 lead.

That’s a very reasonable settlement for both Didi and the Yankees. He looked very good both in the field and at the plate the last 4 or 5 months of the season. It couldn’t have been easy for Didi replacing an Icon in Jeter and moving to the biggest stage in baseball Yankees Stadium after a very limited role in the desert of Arizona.

He deserved more. My guess is he won’t forget the Yanks, lowballing him come Free Agent time, Particularly when he addresses the slim and none Yankee post season probabilities going forward.
southbeachbully
They came to a mutually agreed upon number. I’m sure if he felt any kind of way about the Yanks offer then he would take it to a hearing. Yanks gave him $100k less than what he asked for. They literally met in the middle. Relax with the hate dude.

@ Spudchukar:
Considering MLBTR’s projected him at $2.1MM the Yankees offered $2.3MM and he settled at $2.425MM seems like a fair settlement to me and apparently to Didi. since he agreed to it. But you’re free to think otherwise.
To echo what “southbeachbully” said…..Relax with the hate dude.
East Coast Bias
Are you suggesting that, when he hits free agency, if the Yankees offer the best contract in the form of millions, he will remember them offering him a few thousand less 3-4 years ago?
haha

The hate is strong with spud.

Let him whine about being lowballed. Wade and Mateo are coming up and both bring some excellent skill sets.
