Nice depth piece pick up. If he can produce in spring training and makes the club its a bonus, if Montero has a better spring, Lee can be sent down to the minors for a fallback option. I like the move.

Don’t think he’ll pan out but, guess it wouldn’t hurt to have him down in the minors for depth.

Obviously, I was wrong, thinking that the M’s wouldn’t sign him with Sanchez and Montero in the mix already. Speaks volumes about the M’s thinking on Montero. The local M’s media says it’s a minor league deal and he’ll probably open the season at AAA and get called up. Look for Cruz in right and him DHing against lefties. Generally, a good signing and provides depth.

Why isn’t this under the Mariners section of the app

all Korean will agree. He will make a big impact for Mariners organization that they will have to fight for him once this 1 yr contract is done. Guarantee it !

And the basis of your statement is? We haven’t seen many Koreans do well in the majors so far where’s the indication that this guy is any different?

I mean.. Ryu and Kang- pretty underrated for how they pitched and hit

Wow. That is a no brainer deal. 1yr with minimal $ committed and he has some upside.
I was hoping the Mets would talk w. him bc their 1B backup options are uhm….sparse.

Sounds like the kind of statuary Zduriencik couldn’t get enough of.

Besides the fact that he is a 1B/DH/corner OF (maybe) guy, how so? Jack Z loved those guys, but also guys who had low OBP, high SLG %. Lee seems like a guy with decent pop but good OBP skills that might be a result of good plate discipline rather than being walked.
JT19
Meant to say at the end that he seems like has good plate discipline and not one of these guys whose OBP might only be 20-30 points better than their AVG.
