Minor will only be out 2 months?? Wow! That’s much sooner than I thought.

Jackson could be a decent low cost/low risk platoon option for the chi sox. Maybe even take on Jimmy Rollins for one season. It’s a good way to cover their needs and keep all their draft picks.

No, he would be below decent

Jackson would not be a good addition for the White Sox. He’s not worth the loss of the draft pick. Add to that he only has a 0.2 WAR. No thank you.

Jackson isn’t tied to a pick

Yeah Ajax isn’t tied to a pick, he’d be a perfect utility player for the Sox. I think he’s a defensive upgrade over Avi and Melky, he’s also familiar with the division. I like the idea of Jimmy Rollins on a 1yr deal, even at 38 years old or whatever his age may be in sure he’s still an upgrade offensively than Saladino.

I don’t like Molitor Handicapping the competitions before spring training. Suzuki was below replacement level last year, theres no reason to favor him before seeing how Murphy performs. He’s doing the same thing with May. May could be one of their best starters but Molitor has all but wriiten him off as a bullpen arm.

After seeing him up close for a year, I wonder if Molitor and his staff may know more about May than either the writers or you do. He may have pitched well out of the pen because he is a better fit there than in the rotation.

I think if the Twins had a more solid bullpen and less rotation depth this probably wouldn’t be a discussion. Unfortunately they desperately need May in the bullpen way more than they need him in the rotation.
I’m confident in saying that May is their second best reliever, even over Jepsen. I think he’s probably be their 3rd or 4th best starter. Even though a good starter is a more valuable piece in general, May is currently a lot more valuable to them in the BP.

Unfortunately, even to a HOF player who now manages…”veterans” still get favored. It’s a thing and it may always be a thing. And it’s not just a “Twins” thing. Being a veteran earns players an unnecessarily long leash. It’s more about respect for the man than it is for talent of the player. And talent should always win out, but it often doesn’t.
I think it should be at 60/40 in favor of Murphy, but who didn’t see this coming? I’m more worried about his contract vesting, but I don’t think they’ll actually allow that to happen. As stated above he needs 485 PA, he only ended up with 479 last year and you can easily say he had way less competent competition behind him in the backup catchers then.
