After the return for Miller the braves might be inclined to show a little good will, but market value at SS is high right now. Hart loves international money and TJ patients… How about a block buster freeman/Aybar deal? Let the cards sign and pay maitan and trade him and Reyes, Plummer, ohlman?
Gogerty
Would rather have Flaherty in that deal and throw in Pham.
Thegreatandpowerfulsimba
Dejong added in would be awesome, but can’t get too greedy. I’m sure some braves would like that for just Freddie.
machumizer
They have too many options at first already to be interested in freeman plus there’s no way they part with Reyes. Hate to see them lose Pham too, guy finally gets healthy and looks just as good as piscotty and grichuk. He’s a CF and can take over if grichuk can’t handle a full season defensively up the middle. Greg Garcia and Diaz can both hold the fort down until peralta gets back and the way the cardinals do business I can imagine them just going with those in house options like they always do. It may not be exciting but it works out year after year

I agree to your points on all. To be honest I see no chance of Mo doing anything, never needs to really. But Freeman is a considerable upgrade over anyone Cards have at 1B.
Also, would be interesting to see STL make a splash. But as most Cards fans say, the in house options at SS are not the likes of Jay, Adams, and Piscotty were when they were called up.

Kozma being a former Redbird and surely expendable by the Yanks makes sense, if they’re looking for solid defense. Gyorko’s bat, however, is superior. Have to weigh offense vs defense here.

I’d like to see the Cards and Red Sox lay the groundwork for a Marrero/Reyes swap. The Cards would get a GG caliber SS who is decent at the plate, he could be their SS for the next 10+ years. The Red Sox have no place for Marerro considering they have All Stars at both MI positions already with another one on the way in Moncada. Reyes would add yet another potential frontline guy to an already stacked Red Sox farm system but as we all know, you can never have enough pitching! Anyway, it’s pretty obvious that the Sox and Cards have a match here, I’d be surprised if they can’t get something done.

Why would the cardinals trade an elite pitching prospect for some clown no one outside of the Red Sox fan base has even heard of. Probably the worst trade idea I’ve ever heard
mrnatewalter
I, among likely many others who peruse this site, have heard of Deven Marrero.
I don’t agree with the idea, but you could curb the hyperbole a bit.

The chances of Deven Marrero being in the big leagues a decade from now are only infinitesimally better than your chances of being in the majors at that point.
machumizer
Yeah, didn’t say anything about me being in the majors so great irrelevant point buddy…

You’re not as smart as you try to sound on the Internet but totally misread that you weren’t talking to me so I apologize for that… Just created this account today so I’m a rookie
machumizer
Totally agree with the point you were making to the other guy, maybe you are as smart as you sound on the Internet ❤️

Here’s hoping day 2 with the account goes better for you.

Eric Sogard might be on the move to the Cards.

As far as in house I’m curious how Matt Carpenter would do at SS. I know he is versatile but don’t know the numbers nor follow the team so I don’t know much about him defensively other than his versatility. Not sure if he has ever played SS in minors either. But throwing it out there, I wonder if defensively they would be better set with Gyorko at 3B and Carpenter at SS, if they can’t get anything done on the trade front.
spudchukar
No chance, and I love Carpenter. Diaz/Gyorko for a month or two, and maybe a defensive pick-up after the Spring Training rosters are set.
ScottySmalls25
Kozma makes sense being a former Redbird. Defensively he is superior to Gyorko, offensively not so much. Depends if the Cards are looking for runs or runs saved.
Backatitagain
The Braves would probably do a deal of Erick Aybar for Jedd Gyorko with adjustment. Aybar has averaged close to 2.7 WAR per season where Gyorko is around 0.8 WAR. Gyorko has a four year contract with 22 mil remaining, so there is a $16 million negative value to the Braves. This would require the Redbirds to take on the $16 million or take a negative player value in return that would look something like Braves send Aybar and Nick Swisher ($15million) to Saint Louis for Jedd Gyorko or Braves send Erick Aybar to Saint Louis for Jedd Gyorko and either $16 million cash or Marco Gonzales its Number 7 prospect (value of $16 Mil).
Gogerty
Thought the same thing on Gyorko, but doubt the Cards take on a bad contract, give up service lightly coat controlled player for a one year rental. My thoughts on Gyorko and a bad contract were tied to a Freeman and Aybar exchange with prospects.
But at the same token, Swish or Bourn only truly cost us or team receiving $7-8MM not covered by Cleveland.
Thegreatandpowerfulsimba
Gyorko… I don’t think he is the caliber of player the braves want. Sub .300 obp. Peterson and D Castro are better options at SS/2nd/3rd. We need a young catcher, international money, and/or draft picks. Now taking swish and Aybar and bourn- y’all gotta Coke machine?
Thegreatandpowerfulsimba
No way we take on Gyorko- uninspiring glove, sub .300 obp? He is the opposite of what seitzer is preaching. Jace even managed a .300 obp last year. Castro could suffice at SS if the juice is worth the squeeze. On be half of braves nation I propose- Aybar bourn swisher and frediot for reyes and flaherty… Or just send us a Coke and we will call it a deal. Seriously rosterbating w/o Capt. Hugsalot included isn’t doing it 4 me. Where’s that wrap it up button from the chappelle show?

Trust in Mo & Mike. Their track record the last few years has been excellent. If they think it’s best to trade, fine. If they think a stopgap is good enough, I’ll go with their judgement. 🙂
cardfan2011
MO will know what to do, if he thinks there’s a SS out there worth trading for, he’ll do so. Im not sold on Gyorko at SS, but you never know what could happen.
