Decent offseason for the Astros, I give them a B. Could have been a B+ if they had gotten Kimbrel instead of my Sox. I like Giles, but he’s no Craig Kimbrel.
AidanVega123
I’d say that Kimbrel and Giles are pretty much on the same level. Kimbrel just so happens to be more known however.
McGlynn
kimbrel is pretty established though, I’d like to see Giles do near what he did last year a few more times before I say he’s on par with kimbrel
AidanVega123
I meant like they were on the same level talent-wise. But yes, you are correct.
No Soup For Yu!
For some strange reason, I feel like you’d just be saying the inverse if the Astros got Kimbrel and the Red Sox got Giles.

The first year Kimbrel closed, they probably said, he’s no Mariano.

Interesting strategy for the offseason. They had a few noteable guys who produced above their career norms (i.e., Valbuena, Rasmus). Even with a Gattis improvement and Springer heathly, I just don’t know where the offense will consistently come from. I think preseason they have to be third in the division. I opinion they should have gone after Lucroy.
CursedRangers
I love the Rangers, but I see the Astros winning the division this year

Really? Correa looks like a stud on both sides of the ball, can definitely be one of the better offensive shortstops in baseball. Gomez is a jerk but he can hit, and as you said, Gattis and Springer will contribute. Astros have a very solid offence in my opinion, with rasmus offering a solid bat himself. Not to mention Altuve. Sounds like some Texas bias if you ask me.
Okie_baseball
There may be some Texas bias. However, I think Seattle will play well this year and I think Houston’s rotation has some holes behind the obviously awesome Dallas K. I am a baseball purist I guess, too many strikeouts in that lineup. I think the bullpen was a problem for them and they addressed it, but more concerning is that the lineup stopped hitting homers down the stretch, to the point where LA almost caught them. They should have won the division last year. I still think they need a hitter who won’t strikeout more than 150 times a year. Gomez is not that guy, Maybe Correa? We shall see. Texas is significantly better this year. Considering they won it last year, I think I have to pick us as the favorite preseason.
CrushCity
The offense comes from a healthy Springer and Gomez along with a full season of Correa. And Moran or Reed will be playing first, so there’s that…
CrushCity
healthy gomez and springer. full year of correa. Moran or Reed at first.

They have a solid C+ to B-. I don’t think their additions equal their subtractions.

The AL West should be very competitive. I like the Rasmus signing well enough. This team can definitely win the division.
