No Soup For Yu!
I liked the Chen signing, especially since he’ll probably opt out, but they did almost nothing else. A full season of Stanton and a potential rebound from Ozuna will make this team a lot better, but I’m still not sure they’re ready to contend. They could have done a lot with this free agent market, but all they did was get Chen. I give them a C-.

Almost forgot, they’ll also get a full season of Fernandez too. Doesn’t change the grade though. They just didn’t do enough.

I also liked the signing of mattingly and bonds – they both have a good chance of improving the club so long as they aren’t fired by the end of the season if the team doesn’t perform.

Agreed.

I give them a B. Chen signing was excellent. Major plus because they did not trade Ozuna while his value was reduced. If they had signed one more quality starter (Maeda, Leake, etc.), I think they would have been in position to win 90 games, as is, I still expect around 82 wins. . . . if Stanton and Fernandez are both healthy for most of the year.

Good luck fish….. Either they do too much and sell off as fast as they acquire talent… or they don’t do enough… This year the latter….. I’d hate to be a Marlin fan with an owner who has so much to do with the on field product.

What’s funny is here in MN, people whine about the Pohlads not being involved enough, not canning managers and GMs, not dishing out big deals every offseason… basically, begging to have Loria run the team.

They look like one again they will finish in the middle. I don’t like the pitching (especially the bullpen) and health is a big ? as well. Unless the Mets and Nats implode, they will finish third with no chance for a wild card as at least 4 teams from the other divisions are in better shape than the Marlins right now.
