“classic validation of why we signed Dexter Fowler”
You mean they signed Fowler in order to collide with Schwarber and hurt his knee? (Yes I know what he actually meant before anyone tells me)

Damn. That’s grim.

No. They signed Fowler because someone in the Cubs organization can actually look into the future and predict serious injuries. Every team should have one of those people.

Well I think this officially puts an end to anyone’s speculation as to whether the Cubs will ever attempt to further develop Kyle as a catcher…with the severity of that knee injury and at his size, frame, and weight, catching is out the window…

I think it’s entirely possible that he remains a catcher for a specific pitcher while he’s with the Cubs, or more of just an every now and again thing, but the hopes of him ever being a full time catcher are surely done for. With Contreras expected to be up next year, I’m not sure that there was much of a chance anyways.

He is not certainly done with anything. Until he rehabs the knee you dont know. He was not looked at to be catching 145 games per year anyway.
