If he pitches well, maybe he could replace Pelfrey, who has been terrible so far. Nothing like an 8 MM mop up man.

Yes and no. Pelfrey definitely hasn’t been great (and certainly not worth 8mm), but a couple of his losses he pitched well and the Tigers didn’t support him. If he continues to slide though, I’m on board with replacement.

I’m not sure which games you’re referring to. He had a couple games where he tight roped out of danger better than others, but I can’t recall any that he pitched. Even his game against Houston involved giving up six walks.

Just FYI, in Pelfrey’s four starts, the Tigers have scored ZERO, NONE, NADA, runs period. While he’s not pitched great, you cannot win when your team doesn’t score.

Just an FYI, Pelfrey has a WHIP of 1.922 and a FIP of 5.78. 12 walks and 29 hits in 21 innings. How many runs the Tigers score for him has zero to do with how good a pitcher he is. Was an absolute horrible signing.

Ok, I didn’t say he was a good signing…..but you are dead wrong about run support. Zero runs means that he is 0-4. Look at Sanchez, he’s doing just as poorly as Pelfrey, but with run support he’s 3-2. I don’t think anyone in his or her right mind is defending the signing.

And as I said how many runs a team scores for a pitcher has nothing to do with how good he is. If he had allowed 8 runs a game and was 4-0 because the Tigers scored 36 in his 4 games would that make him good? All it does it change his W/L record. If you want me to admit his record should probably be 1-3 and not 0-4 well fine I guess you’re right. But even that one win where he allowed 1 run in 6 Innings he gave up 11 baserunners in those 6 innings, he was lucky to have given up 1 run.
He’s put his team in position to win 1 of his 4 games.

Lol. I sat and scratched my head all day long when they signed him. Trying to figure out what I was missing when I watched him pitch for the Twins.

You and me both. 16M for two years? Ugh.
sascoach2003
Agreed. Even Cy Young needed a run to win a game…
