Heathcott in LAA seems like an Eppler move to me. His youth and left handed swing coupled with his defensive profile makes him a good fit for the Angels system. Maybe Epplers history with NYY will be enough to make the decision the right one.

Come on Atlanta, worth a shot with what we have going on platoon wise.

Ellsbury contract was a real head scratcher from the start one they had Gardner and they had prospects like Heathcott,Cave and Mason Williams all Lefty/Lead off guys who could play CF, That is too many Lefty OF’s even for the Yankees

They gave Ellsbury Cano’s exact contract the same day he signed with Seattle. They were trying to tell JayZ and Cano that Cano was replaceable. They probably should have held their fire. I like Ellsbury on the Yankees, but we have 3.5 years to go. I don’t think I would have signed him that long…

D-Backs or Rangers could use the depth

From what I understand there have always been serious character concerns with heathcott – even before he was drafted. There was an incident in high school in which he pulled a gun on his stepfather, for one. Man, that 2009 MLB draft’s first round turned into a feast-or-famine disaster, didn’t it? Trout and Strasburg and then…well, AJ Pollock and Randall Grichuk? Shelby Miller? Almost everybody else in the first round was a bust.
