Felipe Paulino is currently pitching with Seibu’s Ni-gun (farm team) right now for a little tune-up, just to give him time to adjust against NPB batters, he pitched at least 2 innings striking out 2 batters but gave up 2 runs, 2 hits and 3 walks today in his first minor league outing in Japan. He topped out at 152 kph (source: sanspo.com/baseball/news/20160606/lio1606061502000…).
Like former Whitesox pitcher Leyson Septimo (just signed with the NPB Chunichi Dragons yesterday, for an annual salary of 10 million Yen), they’ll spend a bit more time there at Ni-gun before getting called up to pitch in Ichi-gun (top level).

I wonder how long before Bard KOs someone with a HBP and teams actually give up.

Ya that’s not true

It’s pretty close. Bard’s last 9 minor league games: 3 IP, 1 hit, 20 ER, 20 walks, 2 Ks, 10 HBP, 4 WP.
Steve Blass disease – where a pitcher just all of a sudden can’t throw the ball over the plate – happens now and again. Brien Taylor developed it after his shoulder injury, and a Yankees prospect from the same Era, Sam Millitello, developed a terrific case of it – his last season in the yankees organization he pitched 6 innings, walked 15 batters, hit 7 and threw a wild pitch.
It happens to position players too, most notably Steve Sax, Chuck Knoblauch and Mackey Sasser. Jon Lester famously can’t throw to first, but it hasn’t affected his pitching.

Brien Taylor’s 1996: 16 IP, 21 H, 34 ER, 43 BB, 11 Ks, 3 HBP, 17 WP. 18.73 ERA, 3.98 WHIP.

Actually it is:
In 2013 with Caguas, he appeared in 3 games, pitched 1/3 of an inning, allowed 7 ER, 9 BB, 3 HBP, 0 H, 0 K, and 4 WP.
In 2014, with Hickory, he appeared in 3 games, pitched 2/3 of an inning, allowed 13 ER, 9 BB, 7 HBP, 0 H, and 1 K. Hasn’t pitched in a game since
