Send Reyes to the Cardinals, they don’t care about character
afenton530
ehhhhh idk about having him on the roster when you already have 2 well performing shortstops
cgeorge321
The cardinals are also the last team on earth that need a shortstop atm…

EndinStealth
Dumbest comment ever.
Phillies2017
I hate the Cardinals as much as the next guy, they ruined a 102 win season for us that kicked off half a decade of misery. However, the Cardinals are one of the classiest organizations in the game, with the exception of the one scandal (that was one former employee). They go by a set of rules called the Cardinal Way, and it outlines the organizations expectations of their players inside and outside the clubhouse. While I wouldn’t dismiss it out of hand had it been a smart business decision for them, but with Aledmys and Peralta, they wouldn’t be able to do that deal.
BarrelMan
Be careful not to drink too much of that Redbird Koolaid.
A'sfaninUK
I cant believe they drafted him. OF COURSE they would!
legit1213
But you’d be happy if your favorite team drafted him. You think an estimated #2 overall talent will go undrafted by any of the 30 teams?
EndinStealth
Exactly. He’s a 17 year old kid. He screwed up. Some team was going to take him. I think it’s dumb how people are condemning the Cardinals.
noonecarez
Reyes to Yankees. They need a good bat anyways
Michael Macaulay-Birks
Don’t they have DD for the next three years?
costergaard2
Agreed. Reyes only has an opening at 1B in NYY
Aoe3
The Os DH has been weak so far this season, perhaps they could slot Reyes in there?
dorfmac
No thanks – Pedro has started showing signs of life recently, and Baltimore isn’t really too keen on domestic violence after the elevator incident…
baronbeard
I’m glad the Rays aren’t going for him. Dudes legit, but from everything I have seen, the asking price is steep for two years worth of service.
Gogerty
Plus it is not like he is under contract for 3 or more years.
Gogerty
Hell send him to Atlanta with $8m for Markakis. At this point character issues won’t hurt the team any more and it will be the same as the Bourn/Swish/CJ trade.
stl_cards16 2
Besides the Braves have plenty of SS’s near the majors and a lack of OF. Would make zero sense.
Gogerty
Near ready, maybe. But Reyes is ready and even with diminished skills ahead of what is in place. Depth chart at OF is stacked with enough part timers. Getting out of Markakis 2018 millions would be helpful.
A'sfaninUK
Swanson is two months away from being the Braves SS for the next 6+ years. They don’t need Reyes blocking him.
Gogerty
I hope they do not call Swanson up for the rest of the year in August.
braves2
So take away Markakais 11 mil or 22 mil for 2 seasons for Reyes 40 mil ? That makes sense. ..
Gogerty
If looking at contracts, not included prorated dollars for this year, Braves would take on $40M through buyout of 2018. Therefore paying $7M to rid themselves of the $11M in 2018.
Braves took on $14M (Bourn and Swish) in 2016 to rid themselves of the $9M of CJ on in 2017. Reyes probably has more playability in 2017 than Bourn and Swish did this year. Was just an idea to also bridge Swanson and not rush him up.
Phillies2017
Reyes has negative value at this point. He’s owed $39.6 million over the next 3 seasons and on top of the whole character issues, his OPS+ was 82 last year and his power and speed seem to be declining and with the emergence of Trevor Story and their push to trade him, the Rockies have zero leverage in a trade, therefore, they would likely have to give up something to accompany a trade, whether it be to pay down the salary to a nub or to throw in some young players to clear some money (possibly to clear room for an Arenado extension)– Regardless, Bridich has to get creative with this one and I am interested to see what he does. Wouldn’t mind seeing Philly take on that money and try to snag a prospect.
Gogerty
What about taking on a bad contract in return? Markakis and/ Olivera.
chesteraarthur
Why would the rockies do that? By picking up olivera they’re just shuffling up their domestic violence hand
Gogerty
My only thought there was spreading the money out as opposed to the Reyes contract and if they attempt to move CarGo they have two OFs in return. By no means CarGo stats, but depth.
thegoat2531
Send Reyes to Detroit. Would really help them as a whole. Would got in very well with the other Spanish-speaking guys. Ship Iglesias, Collins, and Machado or something to that extent.
stymeedone
Tigers need pitching. They are also unwilling to add major salary as they are already over the soft cap. Also,Iglesias is better than reyes defensively.
PLAYTOWIN
Maybe Reyes would fit with the Diamondbacks. Mr. Baseball(Tony LaRussa) needs one more dumb personnel move to earn the hat trick in 2016.
Gogerty
Amazed with that front office. Stewart gets all the flack, but LaRussa gets pegged as the great baseball mind.
jaysfan77
Although Tulo hasn’t looked the greatest at the plate, I’m so glad the Jays were able to get rid of Reyes, even before all the domestic stuff. He was terrible defensively, and just didn’t seem to care. I’m sure he cared, he just didn’t seem to, he had all these secret handshakes and celebration moves, yet cost the Jays a lot of games and was their highest paid player. Dodged a bullet on that one.
chesteraarthur
Tulo’s bat is declining, his defense is declining, he is owed ~$50m more, and also cost Jeff Hoffman.
Gogerty
Yeah I thought that was a good trade on Jays part early on. I think biggest part just getting Tulo out of COL, hope he turns it around for you guys.
