I am a tiger fan and when Joaquin was with us, we was dominate, wish we could have him back for mark Lowe
ThePriceWasRight
no one would make that trade. heck no one can understand why Lowe is still on the big league roster.
anonymoususer
Good. A change of scenery will do them both good.
gobraves46
I suggested a Drew Storen to Seattle for Chris Taylor trade last year. I don’t know why, but I can picture Storen in a Mariners jersey really well…
Matt Galvin
Could of also sent Miley to Blue Jays because looking for Starters. If didn’t get Upton then maybe Lnd or Smith couldv’e also gone to Blue Jays.
ThePriceWasRight
Lind was a blue Jay and they don’t need a third dh. upton for the price was the right move. Lind if traded is going to be a bench guy in the nl I think. can’t picture any of the teams in the AL hunt making a move as they all have adequate left handed hitting and dh spots taken up.

It says Benoit has intentially walked 14 batters right now, I don’t know if that is correct or not.
Steve Adams
Heh, thanks. Obviously it’s 14 unintentional and one intentional. I don’t think Scott Servais would still have a job if he’d been calling for that many intentional free passes!
24TheKid
No problem Steve
whereslou
Watching him pitch you think they are intentional.
And any team that wants Lind can have him for a bucket of balls and a case of chewing gum. The balls can be used or new not picky. Smith we want new balls 3 cases of sunflower seeds and 2 new Gatorade buckets we broke a couple last week dropping them after pouring them over guys heads on the walk off wins. Let us know if you are interested.
Matt Galvin
How about Miley and Lind or Smith for Puig and a Minor Leaguer?
ThePriceWasRight
wow not sure why you value miley so high. Puig would maybe go if it was paxton maybe.
lobretto1
No way that’s a horrible trade for the Dodgers. Puig hasn’t lost that much value. Miley wouldn’t even make our rotation and Puig is worth more than both OF combined.
Matt Galvin
Yes Paxton could replace Miley. Mariners had Ichro before and have Lee know. Blue Jays like to make midnight Trades so maybe another one today getting a SP. We need another domino to fall like a SP.

So in other words this was a trade of 8.3 mil Canadian loonies for 8mil US dollars… Wonder what the exchange rare is right now
stormie
All contracts are in US dollars, including Toronto’s.
zack0035
Very smart move in my opinion by both of these teams. The guys are struggling they have nothing to lose. Maybe they can turn around there careers and get primed for free agency
johnyf
Is this a wife swap type deal?
CodyGadbois
Still not trading schwarber
stymeedone
Not even for Markakis and Swihart?
bradthebluefish
Good move. Change of scenery and coaches (and their advice) could do both Benoit and Storen wonders.
raef715
congrats to the Padres on pulling off possible two of the most meaningless trades in baseball history today (from their perspective, not Toronto’s)
one trade nets you a mere 5 million dollar savings and a young arm with a remote chance of being a usable reliever in 4 years, and the other saves you no money and just gives you another guy who is a free agent at the end of the year.
BoldyMinnesota
Storens going to Seattle, not San Diego
raef715
yep, im eating crow on that one….sorry…was still thinking Benoit was in SD..
up too early today.
defense_matters
No way anyone would do that
mehs
Reaf715, The Padres were not involved in this trade.

Seattle front office – “Happy Birthday Joaquin. Your gift from us is a flight to Toronto where you have been traded to”
Lanidrac
So we’ve got a guy who’s lost fastball velocity for a guy with control issues likely caused by age-related decline. It doesn’t sound like a mere “change in scenery” will do either of these guys much good. Benoit should probably just hang up his spikes at the end of the season.
