Can miller be had for one of the cards 3-5th best specs? Like Flaherty?
Miller is a good grab for any contender if the Yankees decide to move him because of his pay and control. But will anyone give up a top 100 spec for him?
vwnut13
The Orioles gave up a Top 100 prospect (#59 BA) for a two month rental of Andrew Miller, so…
stl_cards16 2
Miller would be a great fit, but would definitely cost more than just Flaherty.
AndyM
Miller will probably land 2 top prospects and a controllable major league piece especially since he has 1.5 years of control left instead of half like a rental.
Sam.rhodes16
That seems a little high. More like a top 5 a top 10 and a top30 spec in the organization
cardfan2011
Oh hasn’t been quite as effective in the closer role, but maybe he needs more time. Mo always knows what’s best

Carlos villanueva former cardinal, rental, makes sense with a 3.79 xfip. Hes striking out guys less but walking them less too.
Carlos Villanueva for RHP Trey Nielsen whos 24 in AA and RHP ronnie williams whos in A advanced and only 20 makes sense.
EndinStealth
Villanueava isn’t the answer. They need more of an impact are in the 8th inning role.

I’ll make this easy for you guys. The braves database username is 1995xxxlol. Password BravesruleCardinalsDrool. No need to hire anyone.

Would love Miller. Guy can close or middle relief. Nasty stuff.

Well trade you guys Koji for a dishwasher
agentx
OK, but only if the dishwasher’s “gentle” cycle is as gentle as Uehara’s fastball is soft.

Unfortunately, I have no faith or trust in the Cards GM. too much on low hanging fruit that rarely blossoms. All talk, no do!! But very good in coming in SECOND on block buster trades and free agents!
legit1213
Sadly, I agree. MO seems so afraid to make a mistake that the go to decision is always the safe choice, the “value” deal. Well John, Cardinal nation is getting sick of the McDonalds dollar menu. Who do we have to get excited about? Yadi/Holliday/Waino are all getting old.
Don’t make this the 2012 Phillies…spend some flippin’ money, or, better yet, sell off some veterans to a contender! This isn’t a world series team, regardless of how the wildcards play out…
EndinStealth
Exactly. They should be flipping some vets instead of buying.

The safe choice, the weariness of making a big move and it failing, is largely why the cards have been competitive for almost 20 years straight.
No boom, no bust. Just development and next man up and nice fill-ins where necessary.

Vizcaino for Wong
Sam.rhodes16
Why do we want his noodle bat
detjet1
Well they did make a bid for Heyward and David Price and they chose to go to other teams. Neither one of them has been much more than average. I would have liked to seen go after Cespedes when he was available and moved Holliday to first.
