I really like their offense, and they got good pitching talent. That ballpark is what’s holding them back IMO, from having a decent pitching staff.
pustule bosey
their offense is good but their pitching is not. The park does hold them back – I think if they could do something to slow the infield it would help a lot because it is thin air+fast infield which is why even when the ball isn’t flying out, the place is run crazy. They need some guys that have a ++++ ground ball rates because when it comes down to it a flamethrower/strikethrower only needs to miss a pitch or 2 and the game is over vs a groundball guy who can miss mostly in the dirt and still keep a game close.

Blaming Coor’s Field is B.S. Manager Weiss’ poor handling of a substandard bullpen is where improvement is required. And, see how the Blue Jays built their best relievers, which was from within the organization. For instance, the trade for McGee was a bust.
michaeljay
Maybe it wasn’t. Dickerson was just ok in Tampa and the Rockies got prospect German Marquez, who had an encouraging minor league season, reached the Rockies and threw a gem to end the season.

2nd article in a month misquoting the Carlos Gonzalez contract. He has one year left on the deal and is a free agent after 2017. That will probably impact the return on any cargo deal if it’s only a one year rental. I hope the bullpen is better next year.

Darnit, I suck. Fixed.

If the Rockies had better pitching…….

I like the idea of Wolters and Murphy behind the plate, if they can get a decent backup in the outfield and infield, they have a solid infield and outfield.

Arenado to cards for weaver, flaherty, gyorko, Edmundo Sosa and another prospect?
cardfan2011
No way the Rockies take that. Even if Reyes was in the trade, I still doubt it’d be enough to get him.
BoldyMinnesota
I believe arenado is overrated a little bit, but that is still not enough to get him. Your teams top prospect pretty much has to be included to get him, especially if it’s a guy with top of the rotation stuff like Reyes. Colorado needs players like that
cardfan2011
I mean, he’s not available anyway, so there’s no point in guessing what it’d take lol

As A Cardinals Fan No Way, Look at all these others teams that trade tons of prospect talent for 1 player its all a trap!
Doc Halladay
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Rockies. Probably because Larry Walker was one of my favourite players as a kid.
A part of me really wants them to do well but that won’t happen until they get at least average pitching. And hopefully that void at 1B can be filled.
wilymo
if the entire argument against trading blackmon is that he’s “needed in center”, i mean, dahl plays center. probably better than blackmon, from all i’ve seen written on either of them

No mention here of Raimel Tapia as additional OF help… albeit more left-handed hitting
