Good news for the Red Sox Wren is garbage

I wonder if they have thought of promoting Farrell to GM and making Lovullo the manager. I know they’d probably prefer to put Farrell in another front office role before giving him such an important role, but the GM job in Boston isn’t really a GM job as Dombrowski does most of it anyway.

If the Sox think highly of Lovullo and dont want to lose him, I suppose this could be an option. Farrell certainly seems capable of a FO role and like you said its more of a title role anyways. They could bring him along slowly in that role.

I’ve heard it suggested before, but more in an I hate Farrell and think he could do less damage in a front office role sort of way. Personally I’m neutral on Farrell.

Interesting. Farrell has always struck me as a front office type and was a strong presence in player development for those powerhouse Cleveland teams of the late 90s. Frankly, I’m all for any move that gets Farrell out of the dugout. Let him work the scoreboard next year, let him cut the grass or sell beer, just no more managing.

Farrell has been long suggested as a good front office candidate. It was rumored that would be his role following the cancer diagnosis last year

Let’s do this! Farrell as Sox GM and Lovullo as new Sox manager. This would be an excellent way of keeping both of them for the near future.
