Can you see anyone giving JR a shot? Maybe the Angels if he plays some 2nd? Pretty good career tho
TheMichigan
Phillies shouldn’t have traded him.
I know it was the start to their rebuild, but he’s a Phillies legend, let him run out his career there.

They made the correct decision to trade him…can’t make sentimental decisions in the FO…just the ones that are going to bring your team to the top

It would be a different story had he had a Ripken jr/ jeter type career. Then you can make a sentimental decision

I agree that if he goes anywhere, the Angels are one of the most logical teams for him.

Maybe Jimmy needs to become an advisor/coach for the phillies young players like Cuddyer and Hunter are for the Twins. I do not think anyone is doubting that JR used to be one of the best, so he could really do good in helping studs coming up in Philadelphia’s system.

If players who don’t perform anymore knew it was time, that is what they would do to continue a legacy rather than tarnish it. Ripken knew when to step aside, and as little as I like Jeter (don’t dislike him, just have feelings about him like Joe Dugan…played, and barely — never in Dugan’s case — saw him). All the respect in the world for Mussina, who obviously wasn’t even done yet.

Now that the Hot Stove is ramping up I have a suggestion for the Mets….
Sign Justin Turner or trade for Todd Frazier. Move David Wright to 1B to platoon with Lucas Duda (keeps them both fresh and healthy). Sign Dexter Fowler for CF. Trade Bruce or Grandy for relief pitching. Off to the playoffs in 2017.
