Perfect trade the Rangers can make
slasher016
I think the Cozart line was meant to say “premium defense” and a bit of pop.
redsfanman
They’re talking up his trade value, don’t argue!
Z-A 2
Profar for Hamilton straight up.
ctrenkamp
Reds don’t need another infielder.
metseventually 2
Profar isn’t just “another infielder” though.
hojostache
Correct…Profar is an “often injured” injured guy who has burned up most of his cheap years and needs to prove he can stay healthy…infielder.
slasher016
What ctrenkamp said. Plus, Profar hasn’t even proven he’s capable of being a productive major leaguer. He’s still young yes, but he’s leaning more towards flop than star..
Kyle3535
Also hasn’t proven his ability to stay on the field.

And what exactly is Hamilton? I mean is anyone really wanting a guy with a career .297 OBP and a whopping .631 OPS. Great, he can steal bases and play defense. Too bad he can’t hit. Hamilton IMO is nothing but a 4th OFer who is a late inning defensive replacement, and your go-to pinch runner off the bench…… that’s it. As for Profar….. people HAVEN’T labeled that dude a bust yet? Offensively he’s in the same boat as Hamilton. He doesn’t have the speed Hamilton does and his defense is average at best. Talk about trading garbage for garbage.

It’s obvious you dislike the Rangers judging from the negative comments you make about their players mentioned on this site. Time for you to move on.
timyanks
time for toby to quit reading.

Hamilton isn’t much with the stick, you’re right. But it’s a bit ignorant to look at the development he’s made on that side and dismiss it. his walk rate is trending upwards, he’s making better contact – and whether people like it or not, elite defense is worth a fair bit.
Despite being a below average bat, and probably not ever going to be “league average”..a 320 OBP with elite baserunning and defense is valuable.
dhud
Hamilton is improving dramatically at the plate. His OBP was .321, which is league average, this past season and his second half split was even better
He is trending up. Profar is still a question
metseventually 2
Davis for Szapucki
metseventually 2
and Lindsay, mid season.
JT19
I don’t know how well regarded/good those two are, but if Davis pitches like how he has the past few years, I imagine a deal would start with one of the Mets top prospects. The Chapman deal would be a model to follow for a midseason Davis deal. Not saying Davis will get a Chapman-esque haul, but the deal should be close in value.

Hmmm. Interest in Smyly and Cobb…… no mention of Odorizzi. Have I missed something? Is something wrong with Odorizzi? Is he injured? I mean if the Rays were willing to field offers for Archer I assume everyone is fair game. With Archer’s price tag in a trade being even more preposterous than the wSox demands for Sale (and both of their asking prices being INSANELY more than what the Rays got for Cy Young winner, David Price 2+ years ago) my secondary target would be Odorizzi, not Smyly or Cobb.
baronbeard
Odorizzi is fine, teams have been asking about his availability. But he’s only a little more affordable for teams than Archer it seems.
kiermaier
Pirates inquired about odorizzi

I’ve seen you compare potential Sale and Archer trades to what the Rays received for Price a few years ago. You do realize that a players ability isn’t the only factor in a trade correct? David Price had 1 1/2 years remaining at $27mm when he was traded. Sale has 3 years at $38mm and Archer has 5 years at $39mm remaining. That extra control at a much lower cost make both of those pitchers much more valuable than David Price was when he was traded. Also, in the past year the cost to acquire pitching via trade has gone up considerably, evidenced by such trades as Shelby Miller, Andrew Miller, Chapman, Matt Moore and even Thornburg earlier today.
Kyle3535
Justin Wilson and Jose Iglesias for Profar and young pitcher like a Luke Jackson.
spartyon
I would love that but would the rangers? I doubt they would
theplaceofgrace
Only players the Reds need to trade: Phillips and Cozart for bullpen and bench. Everyone else should be off limits.
mvottop
I agree with this 100%.

I think the Pirates asking prices for McCutchen is high because they really don’t want to move him. They want to make it look good if you ask me and i don’t see him going anywhere.Talks have even slowed down a lot lately
Kirby34
Here’s betting the Twins will sit and watch while the Dodgers trade for Todd Frazier and Wade Davis. Once again, they’ll be more interested in listening for two months while the available prospects in a potential trade partner are bleeding out in other deals. Make a decision! Haven’t you sucked long enough?

TR is gone. Give these guys a shot.
