11:21pm: Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal at FOX Sports have some new bullet points on the Lee situation, most involving the Dodgers: The Dodgers, Red Sox, Phillies and Angels have all inquired, and the Angels hadn't until the last day or two. The Rangers want a starter, but haven't asked about Lee just yet. The Dodgers have enough prospects to acquire both George Sherrill and Lee, but officials haven't green-lighted giving up too much of their talent. The Dodgers like the idea of getting Lee, as it will likely mean they won't have to depart with Clayton Kershaw or...

Troy E. Renck of the Denver Post writes today about the Rockies desire to trade catcher Yorvit Torrealba and infielder Jeff Baker. Torrealba was signed in November of '07 after coming close to a deal with the Mets. The Rockies had reached the World Series with Torrealba behind the dish, and Chris Iannetta had yet to emerge. Now, though, the Rox would love to move Torrealba and the $4MM owed to him for '09. Renck says they shopped him hard this winter but came up empty. The Rockies like Sal Fasano as the backup catcher and don't have much use...

The latest from Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports... The White Sox are still trying to figure out their center field situation, but they are not involved on pricey veterans such as Juan Pierre and Gary Matthews Jr. Fantasy alert: Rosenthal names David Aardsma as the likely leader for the Mariners closer job, with Chad Cordero and Brandon Morrow lingering. The Dodgers "continue to balk at Pedro Martinez's $5MM asking price." Rockies utility man Jeff Baker, who is out of options, is drawing interest from the Phillies, Astros, and Pirates. Rosenthal suggests recently-demoted Kyle Kendrick as a possible target for Colorado,...

MLB.com's Todd Zolecki notes that the Phillies still have a few holes in their bullpen. The club has expressed interest in Joe Beimel, Will Ohman, and Randy Flores this offseason, but those guys are still seeking relatively expensive (and lengthy) contracts. "They're looking for the multiyear deals," GM Ruben Amaro said Wednesday. "It's more an issue of length than dollars, I think." Zolecki believes that the Phillies may ultimately decide to solve their bullpen issues from within. Chan Ho Park could make for a useful long reliever if he's unable to crack the starting rotation. Kyle Kendrick and J.A. Happ...

8:36pm: MLB.com's Corey Brock learned from Towers that he should know one way or another on a Peavy trade by the end of the Meetings. Towers now believes a fourth team will be required. Towers mentioned that Marquis and DeRosa may be hangups, especially Marquis' contract. Though he'd prefer not to, under certain circumstances the Padres might pay some of his salary. There was some goofy Carlos Carrasco/Jason Donald stuff we didn't link to today, and that was shot down. Brock suggests names like Josh Vitters, Felix Pie, and Kevin Hart could be involved on the Cubs' part. 8:31pm: Jayson...

Time for some early Monday odds and ends. Remember how White Sox GM Ron Schueler embarrassed Cubs GM Ed Lynch in 1998 by acquiring Jon Garland for Matt Karchner? Rany Jazayerli sees a parallel to that heist with the Royals' acquisition of Daniel Cortes as part of the July '06 Mike MacDougal trade. Mike Berardino's blog continues to entertain; this time with a Dan Miceli story. Ah, knife fights with siblings. Who among us can say they haven't had one or two? Buster Olney learned from Braves GM Frank Wren that Kelly Johnson has been the team's most asked-for player...

UPDATE, 12-6-07 at 11:44am: Scott Lauber says the Phils and O's haven't discussed Bedard at the Meeings. However, he seems to indicate that at some point prior the O's told the Phils they don't have the players to get it done. Joel Sherman of the New York Post wrote on Tuesday that the Phillies were initially told they didn't match up but were still trying to get involved. UPDATE, 12-6-07 at 11:04am: Todd Zolecki of the Philadelphia Inquirer shoots this one down, writing that the Phils and Orioles have not discussed Bedard. FROM 12-6-07 at 9:33am: According to Joe Haggerty..
