This a major win for the Astros.

I agree. I still couldn’t see Wandy winning though. Last year was a career year and I think this is a major win for the Astros as well. Not only did this save them money, but Wandy could have a huge 2010 season.

I thought Wandy had a decent case. Huge win for the ‘stros.

Surprised the Stros won. Seemed like $7m was pretty fair for a 2nd year arb.

He was only 14-12!!!

Having a 54% win total has no bearing on how good you are if your team sucks as bad as The Astros….
Mister D
My comment was extremely sarcastic.

I think $7MM was a bit steep, considering this was his first REAL breakout year in which he FINALLY lived up to his potential. If he can give us another year like that, then I think he’s entitled to ask for $7MM + for another season or so. But given his history of inconsistency, I think the Astros were right to reward him for 2009, but not invest that much in 2010 just yet. Hopefully this year he can prove that he has finally arrived, and that 2009 wasn’t just a fluke.
