The White Sox have to get Adrian Gonzalez mid-season.
Jose Veras and Scott Strickland have done a great job this spring. I’d like to see them fill the bullpen.

I still cant believe Dye hasn’t been signed yet.

The only teams that have any use for him have already offered him deals. No idea what the guy is thinking, he GROSSLY misjudged his value

Dear Ryan Braun,
Please tell that to Jason Heyward. Convince him signing long term early is the way to go.
Sincerely,

Thank you!!! tell that to the people who think that letting J-Hey play on Opening Day was going to cost the Braves tons of money. Just lock the kid up.

WOW thats the contract Braun signed?!?! No way. Way to go Brew Crew. Did Ryan Braun just assume he was gonna suck during the rest of his career? What was Brauns agent thinking?
Taskmaster75
I can only wonder what you think of Evan Longoria’s contract. 🙂

Hahaha, I completely understand the context of the headline: “Ryan Braun does not regret signing $45 million contract”–He’s a great player who, in retrospect, signed for less than he could have demanded after a now proven track record. Evan Longoria will likely prove in a couple years to be getting paid WAY below his market value as well.
I just thought it phrased amazingly and might be the ULTIMATE example of the absurd amount of money entertainers/athletes make.
Who would be regretful about signing something that will pay you $45 million dollars? You’d have to be an idiot to say publicly (especially during these economic times) that you were upset you were only making $45 million when you could be making $90 million. Awww shucks, I’ll just have to wait til I’m a free agent in a few years to make my first $100 million!
PS-Does anybody know a good place to apply for a job?

Are you left handed? Can you pitch? You too could be a multimillionaire! All kidding aside, that Ryan Braun contract is an absolute steal for the Brewers. So he has no regrets? He’s young, he’s single, how much money can he spend anyway?
bobbybaseball
Sure, he has no regrets publicly. Privately, he’s kicking himself. Hey, even millionaires want the most money they can get. 5M+ per doesn’t go as far as it used to, ha.
As for Longoria, that has to be the most one-sided team-friendly contract in history. Still, it’s the club that assumes all the risk.

$45 million buys a lot of Affliction tee shirts.

Sometimes you’ve just gotta take the money. Braun could have done a Joe Charboneau and been out of the league by now. He has plenty of time to still get paid.

The Reds record end of last year after Scott Rolen came back from injury. This was without Orlando Cabrera and Edinson Volquez and Aroldis Chapman and Mike Leake and Travis Wood. Jay Bruce was still recovering from a wrist injury. There’s no reason to think the Reds will not be contenders this year.
