good for the A’s
Dot_Com1988
Great deal, hopefully the A’s can lock up Cahill and eventually have a new big three in the coming seasons.
Nicolas_C
Yes this had to be done. Seems like the A’s got their next Dan Haren here, making the deal a good one. They also got some other good talent in that deal.

Bretty Anderson baby, thank the lord. I truly hope he dons the green and gold for the extent of his career. The kid is a stud, don’t be too surprised if he makes a run at the AL Cy Young this year or the next.

I agree completely with him being capable of making a run at the CY this year. He’s that good. A pitcher’s park and the best defense in baseball doesn’t hurt.

This basically was just cost control. They now know how much he will cost until at least year 5 of control. It’s good they are able to negotiate with him, but it isnt something that should get everyone extremely excited about… remember, at most, it buys out 1 FA year
alxn
When players like Tim Lincecum are looking for $10M+ in arbitration, this is something to be excited about.

Im just pointing out this isnt an extension that gives you extra control. I will agree that if he is anything towards what his potential is, this deal will be great for them.

C’mon you know that if the dodgers had locked up some young guy they had with Anderson’s numbers and potential to this kind of deal you’d be ranting and raving.

No, Id be saying the same thing. It is a cost control move that could look GREAT in a couple of seasons… right now it is a way for them to know how much that Anderson will cost through the rest of his already-controlled years, plus possibly 1 FA year, but it did not give them multiple extra years of control…
Corey
awesome… i just bought an authentic brett anderson jersey, at least i can keep it for 4 years now!

Great deal for both parties.

Should be easy to trade with this contract. He’ll land a couple of nice prospects. lol
whynot49
nah overcast, he isn’t getting traded anytime soon. maybe once the contract is expiring, but not for another three-four years and even then maybe we’ll be getting a new ballpark and we’ll be able to afford a stud like him. as you can see, my name on here is whynot49 and it’s because if anyone asks me who’s gonna win the cy young this year I just say why not 49? Brett Anderson, baby.
